Four-Speed Manual Transmission

Private Party Or Dealer: Private Party

This 1969 Jaguar XKE is a Series II roadster that has been refinished in red over tan and is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual gearbox. Features include triple Weber carburetors, a tan soft top and boot, 15″ wire wheels, a Philips radio, and Smiths instrumentation. The seller acquired the car in 2006 and has since added nearly 17k miles in addition to having the floors replaced. This XKE roadster is now offered in Canada with a luggage set, a tool roll, and transferable British Columbia registration in the seller’s name.

The color is said to have been changed from yellow to red under previous ownership, and the tan soft top is shown raised and lowered in the gallery below. The seller notes a scrape on the left-front wheel arch.

Chrome-finished 15″ wire wheels utilize two-ear knock-offs and are mounted with BFGoodrich whitewall tires. A tan convertible top boot is included.

The interior features bucket seats with tan upholstery and trim that is complemented by lighter carpets. A Philips radio is mounted ahead of the shifter, and the seller states that the floors have been replaced due to rust.

The three-spoke steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a 5,500-rpm tachometer as well as an analog clock and auxiliary gauges in the center of the dash. The five-digit odometer shows 46k miles, approximately 17k of which were added by the seller over the past 15 years. True mileage is unknown. The tachometer is said to work intermittently, and its needle tends to bounce. The seller also notes that the temperature gauge is a replacement unit.

The 4.2-liter inline-six is equipped with triple Weber carburetors, and the seller states that a tune-up was performed in preparation for the sale.

The engine-block stamping reads 7R8670-9 and matches the engine number on the chassis plate affixed to the car.

Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. A piece of wood is zip-tied to the chassis up front.

Two tan Bespoke Luggage LTD suitcases with red inner linings will accompany the car.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
