Ebay item 7/9/06
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-Roadster-1970-E-type-xke-Jaguar-roadster-r ...
Current bid $4,605 reserve not met, 6 bids, 6 days left auction.

Sellers description:
Here is a rare opportunity to own a RUST FREE low miles xke roadster with RARE factory options including matching hardtop and functioning air conditioning with OE R12 freon charge. This beautiful numbers matching vehicle features a strong running and good sounding 4.2l inline 6 cylinder with true dual exhaust. The 4 speed manual shifts smoothly and accurately with no synchro noise, binding, or looseness. The engine fires right up and the vehicle is nimble and quick. Orignal jack and hammer is included and wire wheel spare tire. But best of all this vehicle is one of the few remaining rust free Jaguars with only 38,000 original miles. Additionally in the past the bonnet was rust proofed--we have removed some of the rust proofing to show the metal beneath. We were very surprised to see none of the typical rust areas under this rust proofing and perfect body/box panel structure indicating no repairs rust or otherwise have ever been made to the bonnet. Both footwells have been damaged from improper jacking, replacement footwells for the vehicle are included. At this time the vehicle needs to be chemically stripped and repainted as the paint is currently cracked and too thick in most areas. It is important to understand this vehicle is an excellent candidate for either driving as is or restoring to perfection. If your intent is to restore this vehicle YOU WILL NOT NEED TO REMOVE THE SUBFRAME/IRS AND PLACE THE VEHICLE ON A JIG TO ALIGN THE PANELS. This vehicle is solid and PANEL ALIGNMENT IS EXCELLENT. There is no corrosion in the prime areas inherent to the E type body such as the sills, bulkhead, and undercarriage. The chrome on the hardtop is pitted, elsewhere the chrome is in remarkably good condition. There is minor surface corrosion in areas where the paint has flaked (poor paint and paint prep probably at the factory level) but this is not significant and would be addressed at the body shop as part of the normal prep process for the repainting. There was a minor accident in the passenger rear quarter that was repaired poorly at some point in the past. This is easily repaired correctly along with the door dings and other minor imperfections at the body shop during the repainting process. Our estimate from a highly rated body shop was in the range of $4000-5000 for the complete job. Our reserve is very reasonible especially considering the value of the factory optioned hardtop and air conditioning. Who we are: We are Platte Valley Auto Sales located near Traverse City Michigan. We reside in the rust belt and WE KNOW WHAT VEHICLES TO AVOID.

I purchased the car shortly after it was posted on E-Bay in 2006. Except for the body and paint, it was in good shape requiring only minor repairs and all new rubber after a prolonged storage. It was stripped to bare metal, all panels were repaired, and the car was repainted the original color. No rust was found during the restoration.

Car returns to ebay 11/17/20

Classified ad price $75,900, seller sunnysidechevy, car now said to be in Elyria, Ohio, previously Frankfort, Michigan, 44k miles.

Seller's description:

Sunnyside Chevrolet of Elyria, Ohio in conjunction with Greg's Sports, Classic, & Muscle is proud to offer for sale this beautiful 1970 Jaguar XKE Roadster with Factory Air and Hardtop! We are proud to offer this very nice Series 2 XKE Roadster for your consideration. We've been British car guys for over thirty years and when we have an opportunity to buy a Jag Roadster like this, we get the checkbook moving. When we see Factory Air, Factory Hardtop and low miles our Jag radar goes a little nuts. This is a good one....First let's talk about 45K original miles and one very nice repaint years ago in the correct and original Primrose Yellow. We'd call the repaint very nice and rate it as a driver plus plus quality today. Our understanding is that the paint was done over 10 years ago and it presents today as a quality job. There are a couple paint defects present but nothing that deters from the great look of this EType. The finish is consistent, holds a great shine and based on its age was done over a very properly prepared body. All of the chrome is original and in very nice condition.Sporting its original, born with, numbers matching engine this Jag is a very nice performer. Lots of folks say these Series 2 ETypes are the best driving of the entire XKE series and after driving this one we'd tend to agree. The engine pulls strong, the trans is spot on and the car tracks and stops just as one would expect. The engine compartment is tidy and original. The data plate, front picture frame and engine block all have their correct numbers exactly where they are supposed to be.The interior of this roadster is one hundred percent original and shows the patina of a 50-year-old leather interior. We love it as it is- some would say restore it, some would say dye it, some would say leave it alone. We are in the third camp but will leave that choice to the next caretaker. Please look at the photos and ask yourself, when have you ever seen an original interior in an XKE roadster that looks like this?Underneath this car is super straight and super solid and not all patched up like so many of these roadsters. Original metal tells a great tale that this car has been cared for its entire life. It's our opinion that this old girl has never had any significant rust.If you're going to own one you may as well own one with the most factory equipment you can get- the hardtop gives this car a totally different look and the air conditioning is rare and a nice option for you folks out there who don't have to worry about snow 5 months a year like we do. Drive it, show it, keep it in a bubble and polish it as a prized possession, the choice is yours once you make it yours.

Car returns to ebay 7/28/21

www.ebay.com/itm/384298489670

Current bid $10,100 reserve not met 9 bids 9 days left in auction, seller motoexotica, 44k miles, car now said to be in St. Louis, Missouri.

Seller's description:

1970 Jaguar E-type Convertible

Sold on a state of Ohio, actual mileage title

4.2L DOHC 24-valve straight six-cylinder engine with true dual exhausts

Four-speed manual transmission and 3.54 gearing

Primrose Yellow exterior with original black Connolly leather interior black folding soft-top and rarely seen factory yellow hardtop

Factory air-conditioning and wire wheels

Original jack and hammer in trunk

Documentation includes Jaguar Heritage Certificate – Matching number motor

Repainted sometime between 2006 and 2010, the car’s paint and chrome trim are in overall excellent condition, with some minor blemishes that are visible only close range. The bodywork is straight and solid, the engine bay is very tidy and so is the boot (cargo area), complete with spare tire with wheel and carpeting. The chrome, wraparound bumpers are in excellent shape, too.

The E-type was sold in the summer of 2006 from a seller near Traverse City, Michigan. The buyer had the car stripped to bare metal then all panels were repaired and the car was repainted its original color. Ten years later, the car ended up in Elyria, Ohio at a joint-effort Chevrolet dealership and Greg’s Sports, Classic and Muscle Cars. The underside of this solid E-Type was cleaned and detailed to reveal the original unmolested primer floors and underpinnings.

This cat rolls on mixed radials, Michelin Defenders, size 205/70R15 in front and Goodyear Wrangler STs in back, size 195/75R15, and as the spare tire. Each tire is mounted a newer factory wire wheel. The wheels and tires are all in very good order.

The car’s unique tilt forward bonnet (hood) exposes the matching number 4.2L inline six-cylinder engine, with dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and breathing via true dual exhausts. Backing the motor is a four-speed manual transmission and a 3.54:1 rear end.

Inside, the black Connolly Leather is a striking contrast to the exterior color. The bucket seats are in very good order, considering the car’s age. The center console has a rip and the horn is inop, the wear shown correlates to the car’s age. The matching Wilton wool carpet is in good, original order. The original black, folding soft-top is in very good while the factory hardtop makes this more of an all-weather car. A wood-rimmed, three-spoke steering wheel frames the dashboard with its aircraft-like toggle switches and full array of gauges. The inner door panels are in very good shape, as is the console-mounted shifter. A Philips AM/Shortwave/FM radio rounds out the interior.

Other hallmarks of Series 2 cars are a wrap-around rear bumper, larger front indicators and taillights re-positioned below the bumpers, and an enlarged grille and twin electric fans to aid cooling.

Documentation includes Jaguar Heritage Certificate. Showing the cars exits today as it did the day it was born on Nov. 13th, 1969 with its original matching number motor 7R8929-9.

Droptop competition to this Jag in 1970 included Chevrolet’s Corvette and Excalibur’s Series II SS Roadster.

Few Jaguar E-types come prettier than this one and with as little mileage yet have factory features such as air-conditioning and hardtop. Stop by MotoeXotica Classic Cars today to check out this cat for yourself before someone else takes her home.

Classified ad price $95,000 for 29 days, seller classicautomall, car now in Morgantown, Pennsylvania, 46k miles

Seller's description:

For consignment, shades of Austin Powers in the form of this very recognizable British Automobile, the XKE Jaguar. Treated to a full on restoration of this 46,131 title verified original mile rust free car in 2007 then bathed in the correct Pale Primrose Yellow this car falls into the driver quality plus condition. With its Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate and all the correct numbers throughout, you will be hard pressed to find a better example that you can drive without fear of ruining things. Add in the optional factory hardtop, factory AC, the original tonneau cover, tire jack, tools and tool roll as well as a reproduction owners and maintenance manual you'll be tooling about in high style governor...aye what?

Exterior

The paint on this car is very good with only a few minor inclusions and dings. This is due to the 2007 restoration that took the rust free body down to bare metal, all panels repaired and some prior accident damage fixed on the passengers rear quarter panel. This has left us with a wonderfully consistent miles deep finish. The chrome and badging are all original as well as trim is all gleaming and nary any faults. Convertible top is very nicely preserved, and presents in a slightly faded black canvas with a lightly yellowed plastic window. A black tonneau cover wraps up the top nicely when it is in the down position and a rarely seen factory Pale Primrose Yellow hardtop can be installed for inclement weather driving. Chromed 15-inch wire wheels with knockoff hubs are seen on all 4 corners and these are wrapped in 205/70R15's in the front and 195/75R15 in the rear. No more Avons!!

Interior

Yards of mostly original black leather cover the bomber style with headrests, bucket seats, door panels, and dash top, and it's all very nice. The dash is peppered with numerous Smiths gauges, and a full lineup of toggle switches. An original wood steering wheel fronts the dash, which holds the factory AM/FM radio as well as the controls for the rarely seen factory air conditioning. Racing between the seats, a recovered with replaced Hardura matting console holds the ash receptacle and chrome and black shift lever. Black carpet in very nice condition is covering the floor and small rear stowage area. The trunk is nearly perfect and covered in tan vinyl and holding the tool rolls with no damage here.

Drivetrain

A flip forward of the bonnet reveals the factory original 4.2 liter DOHC Inline 6 cylinder, and the original dual Su carbs. The original 4-speed manual transmission is attached. The rear axle is a 3.54 version. A nice and clean well maintained mill and with a lightly patinaed engine bay looking all good.

Undercarriage

All clean and shiny underneath, reworked, and very clean independent torsion bar front suspension, and independent coil overs for the back. Disc brakes reside on all 4 corners and factory style dual exhaust is on the for exhale. No structural problems, and a very sturdy and clean frame.

Drive-Ability

As expected because it has been maintained and as a result of this and the rebuild, along with years of careful maintenance, this car started and ran flawlessly, had a nice throaty exhaust sound, and all the controls worked save for the horn not honking and the brake lights not illuminating. A wonderful driver and fantastic handling for this king of the British sports car lineup, and British Leyland's finest creation.

A beautiful example with a wonderful restoration indeed, all wrapped up in Primrose Yellow and black leather which all retain their original luster. A nicely aged engine bay, great suspension, and solid brakes. A nice find if you are in the market for some shag-a-licious Jaguar iconic British design prior to the rubber bumper era. I want a Jagwah!
