I am clearing out my building and have decided to offer my restored, number matching E-type for sale. I have been in the automobile business 27 years and over the course of time have acquired a few cars that were in permanent storage. After some thought, I have decided to offer my low mileage 1970 Jaguar E-Type XKE 4.2 Roadster series II for sale.

I acquired this car from a very good client named Thom. Thom was moving from Memphis to Santa Barbara California and asked me to purchase the car, and I obliged. Thom had been very active in the Bluff City British car club in different capacities and at the time of the sale, he was the treasurer of the club.

Thom was a manufacturer and fabricator by trade, and his clients were G.E. and Carrier air conditioning, to name a few. Thom had a son who had just graduated Porsche technitian school, and the two of them restored this car together.

The car was stripped to the bare body shell and put on a jig. The car has been completely dis-assembled, and re-assembled. The car has no rust and has it's original engine and transmission. The engine was re-built for performance reasons. The engine was sent to Leo Goff of Memphis Motor Werks. Mr. Goff is an internationally respected machinist and mechanic and is quite well known in the classic automobile and especially in the vintage motorcyle world. The engine was bored and the car received high compression pistons. The cylinder head was re-worked for performance by Mr.Goff and the valves were replaced. The cams were replaced for high performance cams. The original two carburator arrangement was replaced for three SU carbs. The dealer added a/c was removed but is still in my possession. The fan was replaced with an electric unit. The exhaust was replaced with stainless steel exhaust. The clutch was replaced.

This car was sold new here in Memphis,Tennessee at Pat Patterson motors on Summer avenue in 1970. This is approximately four miles from where I live. Thom purchased this car from the original owner, who was known to the car club. The car was selected because it was an original car with no rust. The car has less than 65k miles since new.

The car was subsequently completely restored, and then occasionally driven to club meets and shown.

Some time has elapsed, and my direction is changing, hence the sale.

The car has an optional hard top, and also the folding top. We just installed a new soft top. You will note that the car is currently wearing rare splined panasport wheels. I also have a set of correct chrome spined wires with new tires. I have all of the documentation from new, and the TN title from 1987 when Thom acquired it.

* Update , the car has been serviced, we changed the oil and installed a new battery, cleaned the carbs and we installed a new brake master cylinder. The car runs and drives great and is reliable.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
