This Jaguar XKE is a Series II roadster that was built on January 7, 1970 and dispatched to Canada the following February 5. The seller purchased the car eight years ago and subsequently performed a cosmetic and mechanical refurbishment including a bare-metal repaint, a new top and upholstery, a stainless steel exhaust system, a rebuilt alternator, and more. An included receipt is said to show a rebuild of the 4.2L inline-six in 2002, while photographs are provided to document some of the more recent refreshment. This Series II roadster has won several awards at local British car shows and is offered with a Heritage Trust certificate, a binder of records, spare parts, factory manuals, a reproduction owner's manual, and a clean Ontario title in the seller's name.
A bare-metal repaint was performed in the factory shade of Regency Red in 2011, with photographs in the gallery below capturing some of the associated work. A new black soft top was also installed at the time.
The Series II XKE featured a revised front end and larger taillights positioned underneath the wrap-around bumper when compared to earlier models. This example is equipped with a rear luggage rack and 15" chrome knock-off wire wheels. According to the seller, the boot lid springs need adjustment and the parking brake pads are not installed.
The interior was refreshed with new tan leather and re-padded seats. The correct toggle switches and 3-spoke steering wheel are retained, and a modern aftermarket head unit replaces the factory stereo. Just under 62k miles are indicated on the 5-digit odometer, approximately 5k of which were added by the seller. The left turn indicator lamp is noted as burnt out.
A toolkit and knock-off hammer are included in the trunk along with a fresh spare tire.
The 4.2-liter inline-six was rebuilt approximately 10k miles ago in September 2002. Recent maintenance included new spark plugs and an oil change 1,500 miles ago. Additional mechanical service performed by the seller has included:
Replacement gas tank
New clutch master and slave cylinders
New ignition coil
Rebuilt alternator
New voltage regulator
Rebuilt distributor with new points, rotor, condenser, cap, and wires
Radiator flushed, boiled, and pressure-tested
New radiator and heater hoses
A stainless steel exhaust system was added in 2002, and additional undercarriage images are provided in the gallery.
The Jaguar Heritage Trust confirms the original colors and lists the factory chassis, body, engine, and transmission numbers.
A handful of additional photos from the cosmetic refreshment are provided.
