As mentioned above, car is on ebay 9/14/05

Current bid $7,100.00 (Reserve not met), 5 bids, 8 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
1970 Jaguar 4.2L XKE Roadster.
I am selling this vehicle for a friend who has acquired this jag due to divorce settlement.
Owner has a clear NJ title in her name.
The jag was purchased in 1986 and has been stored in a heated garage since then. A ground up restoration has been started and largely complete. The car needs final assembly with very few things that need to be restored.
The jag's chassis has been completely restored and painted. The body has a new paint job (Olde English White) which was not the original color but correct for the period. The original color was brown. There is some bondo used under the front grille on the bottom of the bonnet.

The suspension, front and rear end, and all brakes have all been restored with all new hardware.
The engine has been rebuilt but not started since rebuild. We cannot find receipts on the engine rebuild to know exactly what was redone but the motor is spotless. We are also not sure if the clutch was rebuilt but with the meticulous effort brought forth on the rest of the car we would find it hard to believe the clutch was not done while the motor was out. Same goes for the transmission, not sure if that was rebuilt but the shifter goes through
the gears and feels tight. There is a new convertible top for the car, new trunk foam and carpet.
All new rubber seals for windows, doors, trunk, etc. All new and in packages. Also have new tonnue cover.
Top bows for convertible look very good.

There are 5 original wire wheels along with 4 more wire wheels in boxes. Some have surface rust but would clean up easily. Included with the wheels are the wheels nuts in which there is a full set of knock off spinners along with the many of the regular wheel nuts plus the original wrench for the nuts. Tires are in nice shape.

There is an extra center instrument cluster, (the one in the center with the clock) included. The wiring harness is there but looks like it should be replaced. The interior needs carpeting. The seats are black leather and need a good cleaning but are in nice shape. There is a pea size gouge in the passenger seat. We can't seem to find the door panels so we are assuming they are missing.
The front and rear bumpers need to be rechromed. The windshield and all glass are in very good shape.

All the hard and expensive work has been done to this car. It is a matter now of assembling. There are shelves and boxes of new and original parts. It would be beneficial for the prospected bidder/buyer to come see the car but if that is not possible please make sure you ask any and all questions. We will try to answer as best we can.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
