Lot #83908
This 1970 Jaguar XKE is a Series II roadster that is said to have been acquired by the current owner around 31 years ago and was stored in a carport for the last seven years. The car is finished in brown over tan leather upholstery and is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Features include a black soft top, Blaupunkt AM/FM cassette radio, louvered hood, dual exhaust outlets, four-wheel disc brakes, dual Stromberg carburetors, and polished knock-off wire wheels. This XKE is being offered as a running project by the seller on behalf of the current owner with manufacturer’s literature and a clean Virginia title.
Said to have been previously finished in black, the car was repainted its current shade of brown some time during previous ownership. Exterior features include a black soft top, a louvered hood, chrome driver’s side mirror, and dual exhaust outlets. Multiple dents, scratches, paint chips, and pitted brightwork can be seen, along with a discolored rear window and holes in the soft top.
Polished 15” knock-off wire wheels are mounted with older Coker Classic redline tires. The four-wheel disc brakes feature inboard-mounted rears and are said to have been overhauled in 2015.
The cabin was reportedly trimmed in red leather from the factory but has since been reupholstered in tan. Features include a central armrest, a Blaupunkt AM/FM cassette radio, an analog clock, height-adjustable rearview mirror, and rocker switches for vehicle functions. Punctures in the driver’s seat upholstery are visible, along with cracks in the dash, a torn shift boot, and worn and discolored carpet.
A wood-rimmed steering wheel sits ahead of Smiths instrumentation that includes a 160-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and a suite of auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows approximately 93k miles, around 10k of which have been added during current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The 4.2-liter inline-six is equipped with dual Stromberg carburetors and sends power to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission. The seller notes that the car was stored for the last seven years and will require mechanical servicing prior to being roadworthy.
Areas of corrosion are present on the underside.
