I had this XKE refurbished mechanically to driver condition, drove the car, then reviewed it on the lift. I discovered I had a really solid driving car with great integrity. This car is one of those "soul" cars, it has a great throaty, strong, solid drive with strong torque and great audio note from the exhaust. The suspension is tight, the engine is tight, the transmission is tight, the wheels are true,combined it creates a great driver. The cosmetics looked crusty but upon further inspection, the car is very solid with a few minor blemishes and a poor paint job of decades ago. All the electrical lights, and gauges work properly. The tires are a brand new set of $1000 Michelin Redlines (very smooth). So if you are looking for a great driving XKE Roadster with solid bones, a car that you can be proud of, use as is and repaint later,I have the car.

This 1970 Jaguar XKE Series II roadster was acquired by the current owner in 2018 and was refurbished in 2020, which reportedly included a repaint, a reupholstered interior, a suspension refresh, a rebuild of the carburetors, and a reseal of the 4.2-liter inline-six. The four-speed manual transmission was partially resealed in 2024, and additional work at that involved repairing one carburetor and replacing the battery, differential fluid, and fuel and oil hoses. The car is finished in Pale Primrose over beige leather and is equipped with a limited-slip differential, a black soft top, a louvered clamshell hood, four-wheel disc brakes, 15″ wire wheels, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and a cassette stereo. This XKE roadster is now offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, the owner’s manual, records from the recent work, spare parts, a tonneau cover, and a clean California title in the owner’s name.

The car came finished from the factory in Pale Primrose and was repainted during the aforementioned refurbishment, and exterior equipment includes a replacement black soft top, sealed-beam open headlights, a driver-side mirror, wraparound chrome bumpers, bright trim, a louvered clamshell hood, and dual exhaust outlets. The seller notes wiper marks on the windshield and a paint crack under a headlight is shown in the gallery. A tonneau cover accompanies the vehicle.

The 15″ wire wheels are secured by earless knock-offs and are mounted with 185R15 Coker Classic redline tires. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors. The suspension was refreshed during the refurbishment.

The cabin was overhauled during the refurbishment and features bucket seats that have been reupholstered in beige leather with black piping. UltiMat sound deadening has been added to the floors and bulkhead and replacement black carpeting was also installed. A cassette stereo is installed in the dash, and the air conditioning system is inoperative.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline as well as an analog clock and gauges for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 5,800 miles, less than 1k of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The 4.2-liter inline-six was factory equipped with dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and rated at 246 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque when new. The engine is said to have been resealed and the carburetors rebuilt during the refurbishment. One carburetor was repaired and resealed in 2024, at which time the fuel system was flushed, an oil change performed, and the battery, fuel hoses, and oil hoses replaced.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The transmission case was resealed in 2024 and the differential fluid changed.

The Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate shows the factory colors and serial numbers along with a build date of March 24, 1970.
