Ebay item 4/10/04

Current bid GBP 7,995.00 (Reserve not met) , 1 bid, 9 days left in auction.

Sellers comment:
Our car is a UK supplied Right Hand Drive example in Primrose Yellow with Black Leather Interior. She is a Series Two 4.2 litre Fixed Head Coupe. She has the manual gearbox and drives superbly. The car seems to have been completely restored a few years back and still presents extremely well. The mileage is 81,000 and we know 10 years ago the mileage was 79,000. The previous owner believed the mileage to be the genuine total from new but without documentary proof I will not warrant this.

Interior:
The interior is still in superb condition with the black seats showing signs of wear without being torn and the black carpet in extremely good condition with no rips or tears anywhere. All the dials and guages work, as does the stereo and all the heater controls seem to function. I would say that the interior is in a lovely used condition, not new but a very nice place to sit. All the dials, guages, interior lights and switches all work as they should.

Exterior:
The paintwork is also in a superb condition with a lovely deep shine on the Primrose yellow paint. There is an area where the paint has crazed a little on the rear drivers side wing. This is only really noticeable close up and would not cost too much to rectify. I, however, am more than happy with the paintwork as it is. The chrome bumpers are superb and the wire wheels are in a very good condition. The car sits on 5 nearly new tyres. The headining is superb. The rear luggage area is also in very good condition.

Mechanical:
The engine bay is extremely clean, not concours, but very acceptable. The mechanical side of the car is superb. The engine starts first time every time and pulls strongly with no smoke. The gearbox changes smoothly and is really easy too use. The suspension has no knocks, even when going over speed bumps and the car sits rock solid on the road inspiring confidence. The braking system has recently been overhauled and stops extremely well.

Summary:
Choosing a classic car is sometimes all about feel. This car just feels right, I cannot explain it any better than that, everything just feels very tight mechanically and it is obvious the car has been well looked after all its life. I cant think of anything you would have to do to this vehicle except get in and drive away in the sunshine! This is a great time to buy this car, a few years after a complete restoration, as the price is just a little above a complete restoration project but the car is still in a superb condition.
There have been only 3 owners of the car since 1979 with the previous owner having the car for 10 years. There is a history file with the car with invoices going back 10 years.

Following in the wheel tracks of the XK line, the Jaguar E Type owed much to the race proven technology D Type. The first production model E with disc brakes and independent suspension all round was announced in March 1961 as a replacement for the XK150. The first of the line was powered by the familiar XK six of 3791cc capacity, producing an immensely impressive for the day 265bhp at the flywheel. Thanks to aerodynamically slippery bodywork of the open roadster or fixed head closed coupe body styles offered - initially with faired-in headlamps behind cowls - performance was sensational and the 150mph ú2100 model instantly achieved cult status.
According to the V5, the righthand drive E Type being auctioned here has only had three owners since July 1979. On acquisition by the vendor in 1994, the mileage displayed was 79,115 and, when entered for the sale, the odometer reading had only risen to a believed to be genuine total of 81,213 miles from new.
The 2-door fixed head bodywork and yellow paintwork are said to be in good condition and the black interior, though clearly sat-in on the driver's side, is also good, whilst the 4.2-litre 6-cylinder twin-cam motor and 4-speed manual transmission are reportedly in good order as is the electrical equipment. The owner tells us that the coupe will have been freshly serviced and MOT tested prior to auction.

Above April Ebay auction ended at GBP 7,995.00 (Reserve not met), no bids.
