The Red right-hand drive, UK market Series 2 Coupe being offered was purchased new in Nottingham in 1970 and has remained in the same area to this day. Prior to the vendor's acquisition in 1992 it had reportedly benefited from: a bare metal respray; new leather interior; thoroughly overhauled engine; new clutch and stainless steel exhaust system; and five new chrome wire wheels shod with new Dunlop SP radial tyres. Kept in a heated garage, 'CAU 493H' has seen sparing use in the last nineteen years and the vendor currently regards the bodywork, paintwork, trim, four-speed manual transmission and engine to all be "good" and says the 4.2-litre engine has "excellent oil pressure". This handsome looking cat comes complete with sun roof and is taxed and MOT'd into August 2012. As its 50th anniversary draws to a close, the E-Type's popularity apparently knows no bounds. Who wouldn't want one?

Sold by Wealden Classic Cars of Goudhurst in September 2021. Amended seller's description below.

1970 E Type Series 2 4.2l FHC. An original right hand drive UK matching numbers car. According to the Jaguar Heritage certificate the car was manufactured on 14 November 1969 and first registered by Henlys London on 6 February 1970. This Signal Red car shows just 26,000 miles on the odometer. Although it is not possible to confirm whether this represents the total miles covered during the lifetime of the vehicle, records dating back to 1990 confirm that the mileage at that point was 19,716 miles, and subsequent MoTs confirm the low annual mileage in the 30 years since that date.
Exterior: The Signal Red paintwork is in very good condition and has a nice shine, having recently been professionally polished. The chromework is good and appears original. The wheels and exhaust are both in excellent condition.
Interior: The red leather trim was new in 1991 and now that it is 30 years old, it has developed a nice patina which suits the car. The grey headlning is excellent. The Webasto roof is in excellent condition and gives the car greater versatility than without the roof option.
Mechanicals: The engine starts easily, idles smoothly, and is very responsive. Gear changes up and down the box are smooth with no sign of worn synchronisers or issues with the clutch. The steering and suspension are spot on. The tyres were new in 2014 and have covered only 5000 miles.
Summary; A very presentable and well looked after E Type which was restored many years ago but still looks great.
