1969 XKE coupe. It is a 2 seater with a 4 speed. It is a Prim Rose Yellow exterior with a black, leather interior. This is not a 2+2. The 2 seaters are getting scarce. I found this car stored in a garage since 1974. The plate is still on the car. This is a solid car. It has just a little surface rust and a couple of dents and dings. I was told that the car is all original. It shows 29,000 miles on the odometer? And the spare tire matches the tread pattern on the four tires on the car? I was told that the owner took the engine apart to do some head work and that is the way I found the car. The interior and headliner of the car are in excellent condition. The chrome trim shines really nice. The floor pans still have yellow paint on them and the rockers are solid. The head looks like it has new valves. They still have numbers written on them. The car rolls and steers freely. This car would be a great restoration project. You can see what you are getting! I have had this car for a couple of years and I could not believe all the attention this car gets! The XKE is in a class of it's own!!!!

1969 Jaguar E Type Fixed Head Coupe
Too many projects and not enough time is the reason for letting this classic car go. I have owned and restored multiple British cars in the past and am quite familiar with rust issues these cars can have, fortunately this one is a rare example of being nearly rust free. This car had been in storage since 1974. The head had been taken off the engine and then the Jag hidden away. I purchased the vehicle with the intentions of making it a daily driver. I totally stripped the car as can be seen in the picture. No hidden surprises! The spare tire well and floors are rust free. The bonnet was media blasted on both sides. The front end of the bonnet has some minor damage with a couple of places containing some body filler. There has been some damage to both quarter panels just behind the doors on both sides (dents). The bottoms of both doors as well as the sills are rust free. The cars windshield is cracked but a good used one is included. The Jag sits upon a new set of goodyear tires. The car was originally Primrose in color.
The interior of this car is nearly flawless. There are some typical cracks in the seat leather, other than that all the car needs interior wise is new carpet.
I had the engine removed, a new clutch kit installed, and the bottom end of the engine inspected. It passed with flying colors so it was bolted back in. The head was then professionally rebuilt and the project then stalled. It still needs to be bolted back on the engine. Although after dumping brake fluid into the bottles and having some brake the hydraulics will need to be rebuilt. Stromberg carbs and intake that were purchased from off a running car are included I have a pair of rebuild kits if needed. I believe I have everything needed to get the car running again.
New Parts purchased but not limited to include: Hose kit, Exhaust downpipes and resonators, Carb rebuild kit if needed, engine gasket set, window wipes, etc.
To sum it up, with the good condition of the body, the well preserved interior, and completeness, this car should be a relatively easy restoration.

Near as I can tell, the car began restoration in Ohio around 2008-2009. The car was completely disassembled. The body, bonnet, doors etc. were fully stripped, likely dipped, and then primed. A replacement engine was sourced and completely rebuilt, a JT-5 5-speed transmission was purchased, and several parts were obtained to give the car an S1 look (cam covers, lights, bumpers etc.). The original transmission was sold, although the original engine and head were kept. The front frame was painted, and the front suspension and IRS were rebuilt, but never mounted to the body.
Around 2010, a gentleman from Bridgman Michigan purchased the car, still fully disassembled. The body was a shell, still on a rotisserie, while the IRS, bonnet, doors, front frame, glass, interior etc. remained separated. The original and rebuilt engines were included in the sale, as well as the 5-speed. The car then remained in storage for approximately 12-13 years, with the body still on the rotisserie. No further restoration work continued, although a set of SU carbs, and possibly a few other parts, were sourced.
In late 2022, the XK-E was again sold. The IRS, front frame, bonnet/wheels were reattached to make the vehicle a roller, allowing easier transport, and the car, including both engines, the 5-speed and all other parts moved to Kildeer IL. An Indiana title issued in 2007 was included with the sale, noting approximately 28,000 miles, which matches the odometer reading in the gauge cluster. Looking through the xkedata information previously published, it appears that the car was last on the road in the mid 70's based on the license plate captured in one of the pictures.

Restoration continues slowly since my original post of 1.21.23. The complete spare engine and Stromberg carbs have been sold as a unit. The numbers matching engine has been completely rebuilt. Missing bonnet parts have been sourced as needed. Metal replacement on bonnet reinforcements such as mud guard, lamp diaphragm etc. eliminated some areas of small rust perforation. Misc parts such as carb linkages and bonnet hardware have been plated. The bonnet has been fully assembled and trial aligned to the body, along with the doors and boot hatch. The complete set of SUs and intake have been full refurbished/polished ready for final assembly. New bumpers have been sourced. All the center panel gages have been refurbished and tested. The clock has been rebuilt. The JT5 has been trial fit with required adjustments/trimming of the transmission housing and tunnel completed

Continue to refurbish parts. IRS disassembled, refreshed rear calipers with stainless pistons. Discs turned. All IRS bearings refreshed and tolerance/bearing specs verified. Rear springs powder coated. Differential rebuild with all new seals and internals replaced as needed.
