Ebay item 10/11/08
www.chequeredflag.com/
Sellers description:
1969 Jaguar E-Type Series II Coupe. 4 speed, A/C, C/W/W. Fantastic car restored 10 years but only 2000 miles, or so, ago with receipts for around $30,000, plus some back to the metal photos. Series I E Type Triple SU carburetor conversion, engine rebuilt, paint and interior redone, etc, etc. This is a stunningly attractive E Type Coupe and not to be confused with its ugly brother the 2 + 2.

Car returns to ebay 8/10/10

Car has a buy it now price of $35,000 for 6 days. Car now said to be located in Ellicott City, Maryland. 69k miles.
Sellers description:
If you want a car with a fascinating history completely documented, this is the car for you.
I bought this car from a dealer in California 2 years ago. The owners in California bought the car from a gentleman in Texas who had owned the car since the early 80’s. The gentleman in Texas was a wealthy man who owned a steel mill who bought the car to add to his collection and drove it for a couple of years and decided to restore it to perfection as a gift to his wife.
In 1988 and 1989, the car underwent a complete restoration to the tune of $30,000 (I have the receipts) including the following:
· Repaint down to bare metal (I have the pictures).
· The interior was completely redone in Connelly leather.
· The motor and gear box were rebuilt
· New clutch assembly installed
· Conversion to Triple SU carbs
· New compressor installed on the factory A/C (it blows cold)
After the restoration, he gave the car to his wife, who drove it once or twice and decided that she was afraid of the car because it was too powerful. The car sat in their garage for the next 20+ years until he decided to sell it.
When I got the car, I did the following things:
Rebuilt the front end with tie rods and ball joints
Installed SS brake lines
Installed new clutch master, slave cylinder, and hydraulic lines
Installed new calipers, pads, rotors, and master cylinders on the brakes
Installed new wheels and tires of the original size (I have the originals)
Installed new Petronix distributor
Installed new fuel pump
This car does not have one speck of rust. It drives perfect (just like a new XKE) and it would take very little to make it a fantastic show car. I have documentation to verify all of this information. Divorce forces the sale of this car, and at $35,000, this is quite a buy. The car only has 69,000 original miles. The car is located in Ellicott City, MD.
