Heritage Notes
Heritage Certificate shows car was H/D--"home delivery". Original owner is listed as Lt. Ray Power
Owner: Donald Piper
I am fortunate to have found my S2 E-type coupe-- an extremely solid car which is being slowly transformed into a fast track day machine. I have owned several Jags including an XKE OTS, 2 XJS's, an S-Type, and an XJ6. All of which were great machines especially if one likes to tinker. (email)Updated January 14th, 2010. Car has a buy it now price of $44,500 for 4 days.
Sellers description:
1969 XKE Coupe for auction. The VIN is 1R26255, purchased in Scotland, shipped to California, I am the 5th owner. Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certified #1724. Also registered with XKE Data. Signal Red exterior with black interior, sporting German made 6.5x15 MWS XW wire wheels, much wider, that make this car look outstanding.
A fine performer in stock form, the car was modified to fast road status with quality components, care in assembly, and professional advice from Donovan Motorcars, Terry s Jaguar Parts, SNG Barratt, and others to make it a better performer. Also modified are some body components giving the car Series 1 appeal. The bonnet is a Series 1 1/2.
The tub is rust free with one known respray. Being a driver, there are the expected dings and dents that come from daily use and occasional slalom and rally events. The interior is in good, original condition. Some instruments have been changed to suit other modifications and work very well. The glass is also in good condition. Switches are all operational, and the weather seals keep the car dry.
Modifications include:
ENGINE COMPARTMENT
--Installation of rebuilt motor 8L21534-L, with the large valve head, refurbished to top mechanical
and concours standards by Apex Automotive in Illinois.
--Triple Weber 45 DCOE carburetors by Pierce Manifolds.
--Tuned exhaust header by Terry s Jaguar Parts.
--Petronix Flame Thrower distributor with MSD 8mm ignition wires.
--Howe Aluminum Racing radiator by Cool Cat.
--All new hoses and belts.
--Modern dual electric fans by V12s.
--Solid State Redline fuel pump with SS fuel line.
--Newly replaced U-joints.
DRIVE LINE
--Rebuilt 4 speed transmission by SNG Barratt.
--Rebuilt 3.54 differential by Coventry West.
--New AR (Borg & Beck) clutch, pressure plate kit.
--Newly replaced U-joints.
BRAKES
--Uprated front brakes to Series 3 E-Type vented rotors.
--SS brake lines.
--Yellow Stuff performance pads
--Fresh rear rotors and pads. ( a big job)
SUSPENSION
--Uprated front sway bar.
--Uprated torsion bars with adjustable ride height reaction plate.
--Poly bushes on all components.
--Uprated steering rack mounts.
--Koni adjustable shocks all around.
-- New ball joints and tie rod ends.
--Solid brass bushings on rear suspension lower A-frame.
--All new hub bearings front and rear.
--Bill Richert Aluminum tie plate with heim jointed control arms.
This XKE is a safe, modernized vintage performer, and yet docile for cruising. The best of both worlds.
Included are all of the receipts as well as a wealth of photos highlighting the work done. The best of the rarest! So few of these cars are ready to run like this one.
