Private Party or Dealer: Dealer
This 1969 Jaguar XKE Series II Fixed Head Coupe shows a believed-accurate 87k miles from new and is said to be a strong runner. The car is powered by a correct but non-original 1969 4.2L twin cam inline-six that has been fitted with a triple-SU manifold and a stainless steel exhaust. SPAX shocks have been installed at all four corners, and the selling dealer believes that other modifications might be present as the car is said to feel substantially quicker than their other XKE. The car was traded in by its previous owner and has since been inspected by the seller's shop and given an oil change. Service records dating back to 2008 show that a new radiator with electric fans was installed in 2015. The seller is now offering this Jaguar with a clean California title.
The color on this XKE is not factory correct, and the seller believes that the glossy 2-stage paintwork to be from the Aston Martin catalog. The large, underslung turn signals and tail lamps are correct for a Series II car. The exhaust is aftermarket, and per the seller lends the car a nice throaty sound.
The forward surfaces show a healthy finish. Though the paintwork is around twenty years old, the quality of the work appears impressive.
The black leather interior appears to be in very good condition with minimal visible wear. The documentation shows that it has been driven sparingly over the last eight years, and the limited wear in the cabin and cargo area are consistent with light, regular use.
Apart from a newer radio and speakers installed in the stock locations, the interior appears to be unmodified from stock. The instrumentation is correct, as are the plastic rocker switches. Apart from the clock all of the gauges can be seen working.
The 4.2L twin cam inline-six is stamped with engine #7R-2771-9, which marks it as a 1969 XKE Series II engine and not correct to this car. It been upgraded with the desirable triple-SU intake manifold, and the seller believes that further modifications might be present. The engine runs smoothly and compared to the '67 Series I also in the seller's shop, this car is said to feel much stronger.
Upon acquiring the car, the seller brought it into their shop and gave it a thorough inspection. All systems were found to be in good order, and the last major service was a new radiator with electric fans fitted in 2015 at 86,683 miles. The seller changed the oil, but did not find the car in need of any other service. Records for the car dating to 2008 are included, showing a good record of routine servicing.
The seller has gone over the car with a magnet and paint gauge and believes the only filler to be present on the underside of the forward hinged hood. The repair is not visible, but can be detected with a paint gauge. Based on its location the affected area is consistent with opening the hood into an obstruction.
The floors are straight and true, and do not appear to have suffered from improper jacking as many XKEs have. SPAX shocks are fitted all around for improved body control, and a stainless steel exhaust was also installed.

This 1969 Jaguar XKE is a Series II fixed-head coupe that was manufactured on July 17, 1969 and dispatched a month later to the US for distribution through British Leyland of New York. Finished in opalescent green over black, the car is powered by a 4.2-liter DOHC inline-six backed by a four-speed manual gearbox. It was sold on BaT in late 2016 and acquired by the selling dealer a few months ago. Approximately $13k in upgrades and mechanical service have been performed over the past three years, including new cooling fans, an electronic ignition, and more. This E-Type is now being offered with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, records dating back to 2007, and a clear North Carolina title.
The opalescent green color was derived from a modern Aston Martin or Jaguar paint code, and the factory color is listed as Ascot Fawn on the Jaguar Heritage Certificate. Closeups of the trim, wraparound chrome bumpers, and lights are provided in the gallery below.
15” wire wheels are secured with a set of two-eared knockoffs and wrapped in 205-series Kumho radial tires. A matching spare and factory jack reside in the rear compartment.
The cabin is trimmed in black leather with matching-color carpets and perforated inserts for the seats. A wood-rimmed Moto-Lita steering wheel has been installed, and a modern stereo is located in the center console. 88k miles are shown on the five-digit odometer, and an indicator lamp on the dash panel is inoperable.
Power is provided by a replacement 4.2-liter inline-six, which was sourced from a donor 1969 XKE and features an earlier triple-SU carburetor system with the corresponding airbox. A stainless exhaust, Pertronix Ignitor, upgraded coil, and modern cooling fans are fitted. A recent cold compression test revealed between 155 and 165 psi in all six cylinders, and a tune-up was performed in preparation for the auction. Service records dating back to 2007 accompany the sale. The Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate lists the production date and factory configuration.
