Kruse auction, 9/5/1998 Auburn IN lot #4406. Sportc Car Market report reads:

"Chrome wire wheels, 4-speed, cold A/C. A horrid example of negligent preparation. Awful fresh paint over poor prep, cracked steering wheel, poor chrome, dead weatherstrip, no rear window trim. Fright Pig."

I bought this car in Oct 2007 from previous owner in Mt. Airy, MD who owned it for approx. 5 years. Car had a beatiful new beige leather interior in it when I bought it. Post-purchase inspection showed good engine compression (120 in each cyl.), no frame or body rust, a relatively mechanically sound car. Still had the poor-prep paint job on it - a shade of BRG but an incorrect metallic color with numerous flaws in it such as orange peel, dry spots, runs on the lower panels, etc. I'm partially restoring the car. New wooden steering wheel, stainless steel exhaust, 6 inch wide Dayton wire wheels, a set of new Pirelli 205/70-15 tires. All gauges and dash lights now work. The plan is to get the car repainted soon at a high-end professional shop. Car now has a happy home in Leesburg, VA.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
