This car is mentioned in a letter to "Jaguar Driver" magazine January 1981 by the then owner, Michael J Tyrrell of Brixham Devon.
He stated that the car was first registered on 8th October 1970 and the registration number was TFJ 56J. The engine number was 7R 39793-9 and the exterior colour was grey and interior dark blue. He purchased it in 1977. He outlined extensive restoration work carried out by him including the fitting of a new bonnet(hood).

Manufactured on 4 May 1970 this E Type 2+2 was supplied by A J Beal Ltd to J Conway Outfitters Ltd in Plymouth and registered on 8 October 1970. The Heritage Certificate confirms this is a 4.2 litre example fitted with a manual gearbox. The second owner of the car had an engine rebuild in 1979 at a cost of £1,031.92. This is made up of a long list of parts with labour at £4 per hour! The current vendor has owned this Jaguar since 13 June 1984 and is only the third owner. In the early 1980s the car won many awards at different events however the owner intentionally used the car less and less to keep the mileage down, currently it shows a modest 65,649 miles. Presented in good condition, it will require recommissioning having been dry stored in a carpeted and heated garage for a number of years. Offered for sale for the first time in 38 years this coupe sits on wire wheels, a true British icon.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
