Jaguar XKE
1969 Jaguar XKE
69 E-Type 2+2 - 6 cyl. 4.2 dual Stromberg Carbs. 4 Speed - Leather - AM/FM Cassette Stereo - Wire Spoke Wheels - Factory AC
Vehicle condition: Odometer shows 19,600 miles. I was told these are the actual miles on the re-built motor. The Jaguar mechanic, who regularly services this car (oil-grease-etc) every 3,000 or 3 months, says it is one of the strongest running 6 cyl. Jags he has ever seen.
Needs a paint job. Car is very presentable, always turns heads - you'll never be ashamed to take her out in public. Has two small surface rust spots (penny size) on the rear hatch, which would be taken care of when painted.
All rubber seals are original (doors, windows, etc.)and need replacing.
Two AC louvers are out - but I have them. I just don't know how to put them back in.
Does NOT leak oil - new battery - always starts - runs great - all chrome is perfect - you could shave using the bumpers for mirrors - dash is perfect - seats show normal wear, no tears - clock does NOT work - tack works, but I don't think it is correct.
This Jag is not a "TRAILER QUEEN" or a Concourse winner. Really, how many 34 year old cars are? Unless you spend 30, 40 even $50,000.00 restoring one of them. Then you have a museum piece you really can't enjoy. Jags are made to drive - they are fun to drive. Why have one if you can't enjoy it? Which is exactly why I am selling "THE JAG". I broke my back twice and had 3 operations on it. It's hard for me to get in and out of "THE JAG". As much fun as it is to drive I know I am going to hurt for several days afterward.
This is really a young persons car. Before my bad back, my wife knew that a 20 minute trip to the store in "THE JAG" could easily turn into a 3-4 hour joy ride. (She never really looked for me to be "right back".) Down with the windows and GO. I spent many a trip to the store with a Janice Joplin or The Beach Boys tape blaring in the stereo - just like a teenager!
Many mornings I have taken my coffee and the sports page to the garage and shared them with "THE JAG". Next to my wife "THE JAG" is my most cherished possession - just to keep things straight - I'm selling "THE JAG" not my wife.
I have a small but fair reserve price on "THE JAG". Take her home, drive her, tinker with her (just like all women they all need and expect to be tinkered with) and most of all enjoy but don't abuse her.
