Auction description:
20th Jul, 2024
The Summer Serenade; Windsorview Lakes
Lot 238
1968 Jaguar E-Type Series II 2+2
2,125 miles since full restoration
Estimate £35,000 - £42,000
Registration: JSA 209G
Chassis No: 1R40274BW
Engine No: 7R3529919
Mileage: 78,331
•: Fully restored in 2011
•: Just 2,125 miles covered since
Manufactured on October 2nd1968, this example was initially exported to California in 1969 via New York dealer BMC/Jaguar Cars in British Racing Green. Repatriated in 2010 it was subject to a full nut and bolt restoration over 2010 and 2011 with the car converted to right hand drive and from its original automatic gearbox to manual, a far more desirable combination for the 4.2 litre series II. During the restoration the engine was fully rebuilt including lead free conversion, as was the manual gearbox and the car was painted in metallic blue with fully detailed invoices supplied in the history file. Returning to the road in June 2001, with a mileage of 75,919 the car then continued its shake down and improvements with further bills for over £14,000 found in the file before being sold to a private collector in 2016 at 78,044 miles.
Our vendor purchased the car in 2020 with the car having covered a mere five miles in four years whilst in the collection so swiftly serviced and returned the car to the road. Described as being in excellent condition the vendor has used the car sparingly to visit local shows and can be described as a Jaguar enthusiast owner. Having covered a mere 2,125 miles since its restoration this example is offered with the Heritage certificate, V5C registration, service and operating manuals and various invoices.
