Car now offered at:

Its Alive Automotive in Bridgeton, Missouri

classics.autotrader.com/classic-cars/1969/jaguar/e_type/101269204

Seller's description:

Its Alive Automotive is proud to offer this outstanding example of the most affordable version of the classic Jaguar E-Type or XKE as theyre known in the U.S. This 1969 E-type 2+2 is a rarity on multiple counts. For one it has the most desirable combination of 2+2 equipment having both the four speed manual transmission and air conditioning.

Even more of a rarity and setting it apart from most other examples is its highly original state. The interior is incredible, showing only the patina of years of careful use and loving care. Whether headliner, dash, side panels, seats, or carpets, the condition is a sterling testament to what an unrestored survivor car should be.

The body is free of rust and has always been that way. This is not a car that has been taken apart, patched, and put back together. The paint is very nice with only the smallest of minor faults.

The car is a pleasure to drive. It has the tight, taught feel of a well maintained car. The engine runs perfectly with great oil pressure, great power, and no discernible faults. It shifts smoothly with excellent smooth clutch action. Even the air conditioning works!

Our cars chrome wire wheels are in stellar condition and shod with Michelin red line tires. Michelin has not made red line X tires for many years and these show little wear. On the plus side, that confirms how sparingly the car has been used. However, due to their age, the next caretaker may want to consider new tires before operating the car at speeds its capable of.

Lastly, the odometer indicates just under 25.000 miles. While many aspects of this cars condition support such low mileage, we are not suggesting that is the case. Our staff is currently tracing the cars history for more information and will update our site based on our findings.

Regardless of the cars actual mileage, it is truly a fine example and we think an excellent opportunity to acquire a beautiful Jaguar at a most reasonable cost.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
