1969 Jaguar E-Type 2+2, 90% restored, this car has been a constant companion of mine for the last thirteen years. I am seventy years old and it is time to find the next caretaker for this beautiful machine who can pick up where I left off and continue the journey of restoration. There is hardly an inch on the XKE that hasn't been cleaned, inspected, fixed or replaced, painted and restored. The car has just been painted with the correct Jaguar red for the year. It now needs to be sanded and polished. The engine has been rebuilt and has about 30 hours on it., The main electric lines replaced, carpeting new, dashboard new, all switches working, new wipers and bottles, refinished steering wheel and all lights and blinkers work. I will try to provide more detailed list if required. I have tons of receipts and a picture history on my computer. Items left on restoration include re attaching metal pans under engine, replacing several interior panels in back of car. Hooking up reverse light and mostly minor stuff like that. I need to shine the spokes and under the hood etc etc. This car is going to look gorgeous when all finished and detailed. I plan to keep working on it when I can.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
