The 1969 Jaguar E-Type Series II Roadster featured here is finished in the stunning color combination of Opalescent Silver Blue metallic over a Royal Blue leather interior and black folding convertible top. This particular E-type is virtually a one owner example having been sold new to a U.S. Navy fighter pilot in San Diego who owned the car for less than two months as he soon after started a family. It was then passed to a friend, and fellow Navy fighter pilot, who meticulously maintained this example for nearly 50 years! During which the E-type regularly participated in local and regional judged events for the Jaguar Club North America. Nearly 30 years’ worth of JCNA judging sheets document over 20 driven class wins, while and incredible amount of service records and invoices date back to 1989! In 2013 producers of the popular streaming series Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, hosted by comedian and car enthusiast Jerry Seinfeld, borrowed this E-type for the filming of the Season 2 premiere with guest Sarah Silverman. Mr. Seinfeld made sure to pass along to the Jaguar’s long term owner that the Opalescent Silver Blue E-type was his favorite car the production had borrowed thus far and a photo of the car with Jerry’s signature still accompanies the car today! In February 2018 the E-type specialists at Classic Showcase in Oceanside, California performed a $9,000 service ensuring that this E-type performs as well as it presents. Additional documentation accompanying the Jaguar includes the owner’s manual, California blue plate, Jaguar Heritage Certificate and more! We are extremely proud to offer this wonderful 1969 Jaguar E-Type Series II Roadster (with incredible provenance) to the most astute collector, investor or enthusiast who appreciates the performance, handling and design of these iconic British sports cars.

This 1969 Jaguar XKE Series II roadster is finished in Opalescent Blue over blue leather. Power is supplied by a numbers-matching 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. This E-Type reportedly was sold new to a US Navy pilot in San Diego, California, who passed it on to a fellow Navy pilot only a few months later. That second owner kept the car for nearly 50 years. The longtime owner showed the car at Jaguar Clubs of North America (JCNA) events, and JCNA judging sheets from more than 20 events are included in the sale. The car also was featured in a 2013 episode of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee with Jerry Seinfeld and Sarah Silverman, and documentation of its appearance is included in the sale. Service totaling $9k reportedly was performed in Oceanside, California in February 2018. Acquired by the selling dealer in April 2020, this Series II E-Type is offered at no reserve with a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, manufacturer’s literature, a knock-off hammer, service receipts, JCNA judging sheets, and a clean Florida title.
The Opalescent Blue finish is a color change from the original Daimler Silver Grey. The Series II XKE is denoted by taillights mounted below the wrap-around rear bumper, larger front marker lamps, and uncovered headlight buckets.
The black convertible top includes a matching soft boot. Dual chrome outside mirrors are fitted, as are chrome wire wheels with knock-off hubs and radial tires.
The interior is finished in navy blue leather, and a wood knob tops the four-speed shifter. A later JVC AM/FM/CD stereo head unit has been installed.
A three-spoke wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts a dashboard containing Smiths gauges including a 160-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, an analog clock, and gauges for voltage, oil pressure, water temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows just over 2k miles, and true mileage is unknown.
The 4.2-liter DOHC inline-six features twin Stromberg carburetors and was factory rated at 246 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. Classic Showcase of Oceanside, California is said to have performed a $9k service in February 2018. The stamping on the engine, 7R 1881-9, matches that shown on the JHT certificate.
The Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate shows an October 1968 build date, the original exterior and interior colors, personal export delivery, the initial distributor in New York, and the serial numbers for the body, engine, and gearbox.
