Car to be at auction 1/12
www.russoandsteele.com/collector-car/1969-Jaguar-XKE-Series-II-OTS/14471
Auction description:
1969 Jaguar XKE Series II OTS
Consignment # 1116
VIN: XKEJ691R7848
Vehicle to be offered for Auction sale January 18th - 22nd, 2012 at Russo and Steele's 12th Annual Scottsdale Arizona Auction.
This 1969 Jaguar XKE Series II OTS (open two seater) is dramatic in black over light tan with black piping and matching light tan Wilton wool carpet. It includes a fully restored original Jaguar hard top, functional black soft top, redline Michelin tires, and chromed wire wheels. Treated to a 3 year, no-expense-spared professional restoration to original specifications, this E-type is believed to have always been a California car. It is turn-key, needs nothing, and is ready to show, rally, or for that perfect weekend drive to your favorite destination.
The numbers-matching 4.2 liter engine and 4-speed transmission were professionally rebuilt and have approximately 700 break-in miles. The body was brought to bare metal and repainted in the original black. The bumpers and all other chrome have been rechromed to show standards. The interior has been completely renewed in light tan Connelly hides and Wilton wool carpet. All mechanical and electrical systems were rebuilt or replaced including carburetors, alternator, brakes, suspension, exhaust, clutch, belts, hoses, electrical wiring, instruments, switches, and too many other details to mention. This E-type is fully sorted and has been thoroughly road-tested in short and long distance touring in real world conditions. Close inspection of the impeccable exterior, interior and engine bay of this Jaguar reveals the exacting level of detail employed in its restoration.
The current vendor acquired this Jaguar before restoration from Michael Regalia, formerly President of the Nethercutt Collection and the noted restorer of many exceptional automobiles including the Steve McQueen 1963 Ferrari 250 GT Lusso (sold at auction in 2007 at Monterey, California for a world record $2,300,000), although Mr. Regalia did not perform the restoration on this Jaguar. This E-type was shown in August this year by the current vendor at the 2011 Monterey Reunion Historics and participated in the midday Jaguar parade lap exhibition on the Laguna Seca racetrack at that event.
Improved power, cooling and ergonomics make the Series II E-type a satisfying touring car, perfect for trips of any distance. This Jaguar E-type, with its dramatic color combination and exquisite restoration, is an exceptional example of the marque.
