Car returns to ebay 2/5/12
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/69-Jaguar-E-type-roadster-/160729620435
Opening bid $35,000 reserve not met, no bids 9 days left in auction. Buy it now price $52,500. Car still in Eagle, Idaho.
Sellers description:
This beautiful E-type has undergone an extensive restoration over the last six years, including:
Strip down and respray in original Primrose color in 2006. All body trim rubber replaced. Front bumpers rechromed. New AA Best fabric top. Two new wire wheels (Originals still serviceable, go with car) New interior. Dash and seats were in good shape and did not need repair; everything else was replaced, including carpets, door panels, seat belts, steering wheel, interior mirror, sunvisors.
Stainless steel exhaust system. Petronix ignition system. New master brake cylinder. New alternator. New clutch master & slave cylinders.
Major extras:
Complete engine rebuild in 2004 by prior owner.
Triple SU carburetors in 2008
5-speed Cosworth mt-75 transmission and new clutch in 2009 (original, number matching 4-speed was working perfectly when removed, goes with car)
All work was performed using top quality parts from XKs Unlimited, Terry's Jag Parts, S.N.G. Barratt, BAS Limited and Welsh Enterprises.
This was a decent car when I purchased it. It was a driver and I thought that was what I wanted. But it wasn't a good enough driver and I soon became dissatisfied with its flaws. The paint was good, but not good enough. Prep for that revealed some minor problems, which had to be fixed. One thing led to another and by the time it was finished I had spent $26,000 on the restoration and improvements. A lot of money, but what I have now is a really nice car. It has not had a concourse detailing under the bonnet but the engine compartment is as tidy as a driver needs to be. If you want a trailer queen, look elsewhere. This car wants to be driven. The triple SUs have put snap into its performance, and the 5-speed has turned it into a much more modern feeling car. The transmission shifts smoothly and at sixty-five mph the car now loafs along at about 2100 rpm. Maintenance and restoration records back to 1996.
