Ebay item 9/5/05
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-69-XKE-CONVERTIBLE-A-C-TRIPLE-SUS_W0QQcmdZ ...
Opening bid $10,000.00 (Reserve not met), no bids yet, 6 days left in auction. Buy it now price $37,900. 65k miles.

Sellers description:
This is the car to drive home and enjoy - if you don't mind the envious stares! I bought it approx. 6 years ago and had it fully restored in 2001 to excellent driver condition. I have 6 other British roadsters, and this is my favorite. I am selling it to because I am buying a series 1 E type at twice my reserve. The engine was completely rebuilt and all the running gear was also replaced, including the clutch, brakes, wheel bearings, shocks, exhaust, etc. There is no rust anywhere. The paint is very good, and only needs some compounding to remove any scratches. If you want to upgrade the restoration to show condition, the car only needs minor cosmetic improvement (some rubber trim, fur, some chrome, etc.). During restoration I installed the correct factory A/C unit from a '69 coupe. It worked for two years but the fan switch is tempermental and it needs R-12 freon. (I only drive it top down) The car has less than 3,000 miles since restoration. I bought the car with the full 265 HP triple SU setup, not the emasculated 220 HP twin Strombergs that all other 1969 E types have. It is "correct" for a 1969 European XKE, as is all the other restoration I did for the car. ( I don't know whether the numbers match - only that the elements are correct.) The only exception was a later year electronic distributor for better driveability. I set a very reasonable reserve, markedly lower than the "buy it now" price. If you are a serious British car afficionado, then this is your car at a very reasonable cost.

Opening bid $20,000 reserve not met, no bids yet 6 days left in auction. Buy it now price $32,500. Car now in Oviedo, Florida. 32k miles.

Sellers description:
This beautiful classic was appraised (available for inspection upon request) 3 years ago for $29,000. In March 2007, the engire was rebuilt and has only 1,500 additional miles since that time. We are unsure of the actual mileage of the vehicle as the previous owner was uncertain. All guages, lights, and warning lights work (except clock). Starts, runs and drives great! Not much effort required to make it a show-car. The vehicle was originally equipped with A/C, however, does not and has not functioned since we've owned the vehicle. Seat leather is without tears or rips, however, there are portions of the interior that are a bit "rough". Again, I don't believe much effort would be required to showroom condition.

This vehicle never fails to get stares, nods and thumbs-up whenever we're out and about.

Within the past two weeks a "Certified" Jaguar mechanic inspected and repaired any defect, malfunction or problem he could detect. Documentation available upon request. However, this vehicle is sold AS IS.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
