Ebay item 3/20/14

www.ebay.com/itm/Jaguar-E-Type-Roadster-1969-Jaguar-Series-II-E-type-Roadster-/1 ...

Current bid $10,100 reserve not met, 11 bids 9 days left in auction, buy it now price $37,500. 51k miles. Hanover, Massachusetts

Sellers description:

This 1969 E-type roadster is a fully matching number car. It has a very rare and desirable color combination in the fact the the exterior and interior are in black. Although we have no receipts the previous owner indicated he had spent $48,000.00 on the car up to how sits now. That does not include the price of the car. If you know Jaguars you will know this an accurate amount. All the body has been done and it is in superb condition. There is no rust, no dents and no bondo. The previous owner ran out of money, so this is his loss and your gain. The engine and the gearbox have been rebuilt, but we have not tried to start the engine. The owner had stated he had it running. There is a new clutch, new gas tank, new wiring loom, new brakes, new exhaust. The rear end has been rebuilt, as well as the radiator and heater box. All the hard and expensive work has been done. What it needs now is someone to paint it black, put a black interior in it and spruce up the chrome and you will have one beautiful car. There is a small box of miscellaneous parts other than that what you see is what you get. The tool kit, the jack, the wood above the gas tank and the door handles are missing. The car rolls and steers so it can be transported easily.

Subject to a mechanical and aesthetic restoration

Extensive collection of invoices for work undertaken during the restoration

The Interior

Interior restored to a high standard

Good quality upholstery

Excellent convertible top

The suave 2 seater cabin of the Jag is one, that much like the rest of the car, presents in exemplary condition. The two sculpted seats are of an excellent standard, boasting high quality upholstery, with neat stitching and a distinct lack of wear or damage, these are well paired with a set of retrimmed colour matched door panels, adorned with lashings of fresh chrome trim. At ground level we find an equally smart carpet set, draping its way across the cabin floor and the footwells.

Front and centre, sits the marvellous, contrasting black dash piece. A wonderful cluster of sculpted gauges, switches and controls are housed here, all in great order and reported to be functioning well. The dash itself is of an excellent standard, the materials used are in good order and are notably free from damage or the sun fading often found here, courtesy of the extensive levels of work put in to restore the car.

A piece of artwork in itself, the elegant wood rimmed, 3 spoke Jaguar steering wheel is in excellent shape and protruded neatly from the aforementioned dash piece.

Being a convertible variant of the E-Type, we find the car installed with a black fabric convertible top to match the original factory specification. Whilst ideally this won’t be needed for those enjoying the car through the upcoming summer months, the roof functions fully and with ease, and the material itself is in good order.

The Exterior

Excellently proportioned, aerodynamic styling

Restored to an incredibly high standard

Resprayed in the iconic British Racing Green

Beautiful chrome wire wheels

Originally finished in Jaguar’s Willow Green from the factory, the E-Type was treated to a far more fitting, more iconic green in the form of a respray in British Racing Green during its restoration. Done to the highest of standards, the paintwork presents in truly remarkable condition, a rich, deep shine exuding from all angles of the streamlined body. Perfectly complimented by a myriad of brilliant chrome trim, much of which was replaced with new outfits during restoration.

The chrome wrap around bumpers, an updated feature for the series 2 E-Types, are in exemplary condition, as are the headlight bezels, glass and badging dotted around the vehicle, The long sweeping, front hinged bonnet, a piece to marvel in its own right, mirrors this high quality. Courtesy of the previously mentioned restoration work, we find the shut lines, panel gaps and door jambs are all straight and in good order.

The Jaguar, sits one four wonderful chrome wire wheels, presenting in an almost factory fresh standard, they are neatly finished off with Jaguar centre caps, with an alternative set of caps accompanying the car as well.

The Mechanics

Subject to a mechanical overhaul during restoration period

Iconic 4.2 litre engine

Solid example

Four speed manual gearbox

Of course, no good restoration is complete without a thorough mechanical overhaul, which naturally, is just what this excellent E-Type has had. Taken completely down to bare metal, any body imperfections were rectified prior to the Jaguar’s repaint. The car was simultaneously converted from a left hand drive to right hand drive and at the same time the engine was stripped down and rebuilt to the highest of standards, sourcing parts from genuine Jaguar and E-Type specialists. Some photos of this mechanical restoration work accompany the vehicle.

The suspension, sills and general body and mechanics of the Jaguar are in great solid form, with very little to be seen in the way of blemishes and marking.

The now rebuilt 4.2 Litre motor is an absolutely glorious piece of engineering, presenting in great clean condition, the owner reports an incredibly rewarding drive courtesy of the Jaguar powerhouse and the four speed manual transmission it is mated to.
