Sellers description:
My father in laws 1969 Jaguar XKE Convertible. He has owned this car since I think 1998. He purchased it from a person that did a cosmetic amateur restoration. I would give this car between a 3 and 4 on a 6 point Old Cars Price Guide point scale. Probably closer to a 4. The car has been sitting in a warehouse since shortly after he purchased it. I removed the fuel tank, cleaned and sealed it, and flushed out the carbs. The car started and runs well. The valves do need adjusted as there is a slight valve tick. I drove the car home today about 15 miles. The rear brakes need some attention as they got hot on the way home slight drag. Also noticed that the brake master cylinder is leaking, so probably needs replaced. Car has had some body work behind the rear wheels, I took some pictures while the fuel tank was out so you can see the work that was done. There are also some small dings on the car. Underside looks to be solid and I took some pictures of the floor pans. There is oil leaking under the car but not sure where it is from. This car will need some mechanical repairs prior to making it a daily driver. I have looked for engine numbers above the oil filter and on the left side engine to transmission flange . Only number I could find was a stamped 1, I would assume it is not engine number 1 though. Therefore I can not say if it is the original engine. The front Right side engine frame does match the ID plate numbers. The convertible top does need replaced. The drivers side door latch also does not latch all the way closed. Not sure why.
