I am only the third owner of this Jaguar. The previous owner has had it in Minnesota since 1975. I purchased it in 2012. The car has been modified, but you would not know it by looking at the engine. It has an aluminum fly wheel. It has race hardened pistons, and has a compression ratio of 10:1. It has Weber carbs. It definitely gets up and goes, and is a joy to drive at speed.
I have had it on the track for touring at Road America at Elkhart Lake, WI. My 10 year old daughter and I go twice a year for vintage racing, usually SVCDA and VSCDA. If we are lucky we also make the Denny Redman Classic in July. I sneak kit up to at least 100 mph on the long starights. You have to be careful not to get flagged and escorted off the track.
This is my daughter's college money! Needless to say, I hope I have alternative college financing by the time she turns 18!

This 1969 Jaguar E-type 4.2-Liter Series 2 Open Two-Seater (OTS) convertible “runs like a gem and is a joy to own,” the seller says. The stated-original, rebuilt 4.2-liter DOHC inline-six has been heavily upgraded with 10:1 compression, triple Weber carburetors, forged racing pistons, rings, competition cams and springs, a balanced aluminum flywheel and competition clutch, and Mallory distributor. The seller identifies the exterior finish as “lovely,” adding that this E-type was repainted once in 1992, in the original British Racing Green, and re-buffed in 2020. The original Camel interior is described as “weathered,” but complete and believed to be fully functioning.
FEATURES
The seller identifies himself as only the fourth owner in 56 years.
The 4.2-liter DOHC inline-six was rated at 246 hp and 263 lb-ft of torque when new.
The second owner is said to have had the original engine extensively rebuilt.
Three sidedraft Weber 45 DCOE carburetors replaced the original SU’s.
Other significant upgrades include 10:1 compression, and forged pistons and rings.
Competition cams and springs were installed.
A balanced aluminum flywheel and competition clutch were added to the powertrain.
A Mallory dual-point distributor completed the rebuild.
The seller describes the increase as “exhilarating.”
The seller has installed a hand-braided electrical harness throughout the E-type.
A new full dual exhaust system has been installed during his ownership.
The exterior appears to present very strongly in the photos.
The full body was repainted in 1992 to the original factory color and re-buffed in 2020.
Parking damage on the driver’s door was repaired in 2021, with no color difference.
A new fabric soft top has replaced the original vinyl top.
The “weathered” interior is identified as original.
Camel leather seat facings and vinyl trim are present.
Minor creasing on the seats conveys acceptable patina.
The dashboard appears complete, and all features are believed to function properly, other than the original analog clock which is non-functioning.
The odometer reads 67,191 miles, which may be original to the vehicle.
The undercoated undercarriage appears clean in the photos.
COMES WITH
A vintage-style digital radio has been placed in the dash and the original radio is included.
NEEDS
The seller identifies a slow leak in the radiator.
The rear deck lid springs are soft and should be replaced.
One rear shock is broken (although the seller notes there are two shocks on each side.)
A burn the size of a pencil eraser is pointed out on the passenger’s-seat bottom.
The original analog clock is non-functioning.
OVERVIEW
The interior of this 1969 Jaguar E-type 4.2-liter Series 2 is largely original.
The exterior was refinished in 1992 and more recently re-buffed in 2020.
The original engine has been extensively rebuilt for increased performance.
