Sellers description:
Offered is a rare opportunity to acquire an outstanding, low mileage, original E Type Roadster with only 19,306 documented original miles. The car features all of the qualities one would expect from an extremely low mileage, highly sought after example. With a totally solid, accident free body, regular maintenance, and terrific original interior, this car represents a true survivor. Over the years, the car has been well cared for, while it has been used minimally and has not been stored for extensive periods of time.
An incredible body with superb all around panel fit, in one of the most sought after color combinations ever offered on an E Type. The doors shut with the release of your hand and click shut with fantastically even gaps on all edges. The bonnet is just as nice, the mouth section completely unmolested and the fit surrounding the front cowl superb. The floors are totally solid and retain their original shape and interior factory protection. The rockers, wheel wells, and rear fender lips are all spectacular as is the trunk with the original factory spare Dunlop RS5 sport tire and wheel in place and the original jack never used with factory tape still adhered. It is clearly apparent that although the car was repainted once in its original color, probably 10-15 years ago, (most likely due to Jaguar’s well know paint problems in the late 60s and early 70s) that it appears to never have been hit or involved in any accidents. The paint still had lots of luster and is in excellent condition for its age with only minor stone chips, few small dings and imperfections, mostly in the bonnet showing light fading and crazing in some areas.
The totally original interior (light blue-ish gray), a rare find in this condition, is clearly indicative of the car’s mileage. The seats have fantastic contour as do the headrests (you often see these deflated on Series II & III cars). The condition of the leather is excellent, still supple and the coloring is a magnificent contrast to the navy paint. Door panels, sill covers, center console, arm rest / cubby box are all in original, wonderful condition. The roadster still retains its original rubber brake and clutch pads showing the extremely low mileage. All original Triplex glass is still intact as are the original Lucas sealed beam headlights. Mechanically, the car has always been serviced and maintained. The original (matching numbers) engine has excellent oil pressure, the gearbox is tight and clicks into gear as low mileage boxes do, the brake rotors and calipers are both fresh and the pedal is strong. The top, although completely functional will need a rear window as it has yellowed with age. A complete new exhaust system was just fitted as well as new front mats.
Please understand this is not a fully restored or Concours car, there are imperfections. Unrestored cars such as this E Type are a delight to drive, retaining a tight “together” feel, which even the best restoration can’t duplicate. If you are looking for a totally legitimate, low mileage E Type I urge you to see this car for yourself.
