This 1969 Jaguar XKE is a Series II roadster that was purchased by the seller in 1973 and underwent a refurbishment in 2007 that included a repaint, an interior retrim, and replacement of the clutch and black soft top. The car is finished in yellow over black leather and powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes 15” knock-off wire wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, a louvered hood, a luggage rack, and an AM/FM cassette stereo. This XKE is now offered in Canada with a factory workshop manual, a tool roll, refurbishment records, and British Columbia registration listing the car as a 1970 model.

The body was stripped and repainted in yellow in 2007, and the black soft top was replaced. Exterior features include a louvered hood, a driver-side mirror, a luggage rack, a black soft top boot, dual exhaust outlets, and chrome bumpers with overriders.

Chrome 15” knock-off wire wheels are mounted with 195/65 Falken Ziex ZE512 tires. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes with inboard-mounted units out back.

The cabin was reupholstered in 2006 and features bucket seats trimmed in black leather with perforated inserts as well as color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Additional appointments include a Pioneer AM/FM cassette stereo and a lockable glove compartment.

The three-spoke steering wheel wears an aftermarket cover and fronts Smiths instrumentation consisting of a replacement 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline, while a clock and auxiliary gauges are mounted in the center of the dash. The five-digit odometer shows 13k miles. Approximately 45k miles are said to have been added under current ownership, and true mileage is unknown.

The 4.2-liter inline-six is equipped with dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and is said to have been rebuilt under current ownership. An oil change was last performed in 2020.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The clutch was replaced and the hydraulic cylinders were rebuilt in 2007 along with the installation of a stainless-steel exhaust system.

A workshop manual and a tool roll will accompany the car along with refurbishment records.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
