MAGNIFICENT! STUNNING! JAW-DROPPING! DAZZLING! SUPERB! SPECTACULAR! SHOW QUALITY! The list of adjectives goes on and on and still it is nearly impossible to impart how absolutely drop dead gorgeous this 1969 Jaguar XKE convertible truly is. Impeccably restored to its original beauty, this fantastic roadster was judged 9.927 on a scale of 10 on the JCNA Official Concours d’Elegance Judging criterion at the August 2003 Show hosted by Jaguar Club of Ohio.

Originally "Willow Green," the car’s restoration included a change to a clear coat finish in red which matches the 1969 color "Signal Red." Most items used in the restoration are OEM. The body was and is virtually rust-free, which indicates that it has always been a very dry car.

The owners of this vehicle spent over 1500 hours personally working on the restoration. In addition, the mechanicals were performed by a Jaguar specialist (who donated countless hours just because he loved the car) with 30 years experience on Jaguars. The paint was professionally done with the best of modern technology combined with expertise in dealing with a vintage vehicle of this caliber.

DETAILS OF CAR:

Restoration: This vehicle was meticulously restored (with color change) by the current (second) owner. Extensive documentation and photos are available. A sampling of the restoration process photos appears at the end of the photo section along with vehicle history authentication and car show judging documents. Title shows actual mileage when current owner purchased is 24,281. Mileage is now 27,937. 439 miles on trip odometer represents miles accumulated since total restoration.

Documentation: Copies of manufacturer’s statement of origin and previous title documents are available for examination. The current owner arranged an independent title search to authenticate prior ownership history. The original "Operating, Maintenance and Service Handbook" accompanies the vehicle. The restoration photos and invoices provide a diary of the process. Literally, no expense was spared on this vehicle restoration and documentation is exhaustive.

Paint: (Willow Green-original color) Clear coat finish repainted in red which matches "Signal Red" 1969 color.

Body: Body rust-free. Very dry car. Slight amount of rust around battery box (very common on these cars) was repaired. .

Chrome: Chrome on car was completely redone except door handles. All chrome is show quality which is an upgrade in quality.

Glass: Appears clear and free of blemishes.

Convertible Top: Brand new

Interior: Entire interior is OEM. Seats, carpet, panels, etc. Dash is all original. Seats are leather OEM.

Tires & Wheels: All brand new. Wheels are Dayton all chrome with stainless spokes. Spare 185/R15. Tires are 205/R15. Spare is chrome original.

Have 4 original chrome wheels with red stripe original size Michelin tires.

Engine/Transmission: 4.2 Litre Straight 6 with 4-speed Manual Transmission. Engine and transmission (matching numbers) were completely resealed and rebuilt by Jaguar specialist, as was the rear end. Reseal to eliminate any leakage problems. Bearing material and wear parts were replaced or inspected to assure they were at minimum wear. Engine, transmission and front suspension were reinstalled by Jaguar specialist. Rearend was partially installed by owner and completed and set up by Jaguar specialist.

Undercarriage: Undercarriage is just as beautiful as you would expect but photos did not come out well.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
