For sale at Bonhams auction 30 May 2020

1973 Jaguar E-Type Series 3 V12 Roadster
Registration no. YNH 800M Chassis no. 1S1901
£ 35,000 - 40,000
€ 39,000 - 45,000

Odometer Reading: 74,168
The last, Series 3 incarnation of the E-type had seen the model go from sports car to grand tourer, and with its V12 engine was capable of effortless continent crossing. This later manual gearbox Series 3 Roadster enjoyed much specialist re-commissioning work between September 2016 and April 2017 (bill for £4,439 on file) while work in 2015 cost £11,000. Again, the bill is on file. In solid mid-blue, the paint is very presentable and the bodywork shows good panel fit. The engine bay is clean. This car's interior is in light tan with recent blue carpets and is smart. Seat facings have lightly mellowed but appear wear-free while the dashboard and door cards, along with the hood, are presentable.

One of THE classic grand tourers of the 1970s, this keenly priced Series 3 V12 Roadster has the added benefit of a manual gearbox. Its general appearance, outside and inside, invites closer inspection.

Sold by Anthony Godin Sporting Cars and Motorcycles of Mereworth in September 2021. Seller's description below.

www.anthonygodin.co.uk/car/jaguar-e-type-s3-v12-roadster-3/

Built on 11th June and registered on 9th July 1973 this matching numbers right hand drive S3 V12 roadster is finished in its original colour combination of Azure Blue with Biscuit trim. A manual gearbox car, it has had a recent partial body restoration costing over £5000. Prior to this it was subject to about £7000 of mechanical work to the brakes and suspension, with invoices on file.

Showing 74,000 miles the car is in nice overall condition, the interior was partially trimmed although the seats remain original, it has a new blue soft top and matching hood bag. Mechanically the car drives well, it is fitted with a new battery and comes complete with a small history file, JDHT heritage certificate and UK V5C logbook.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
