This car belonged to Chuck Horton, Oakland CA at one time in the early '90's. Iwas told it sold to a man in Chicago that also purchased car #51

The car that was previously identified as #49 was incorrect. This car found 12/07 is the correct car 1S20049BW. Found on ebay. Seller writes: Bruce Gellers Personal 1971 Jaguar Series III E-Type Convertible. 12-cylinder engine, four single-barrel carburetors, three-speed automatic transmission, four-wheel independent suspension and power assisted four-wheel disc brakes, power steering. This car served double-duty, being featured in several episodes of Mission: Impossible and Mannix.

The first E-Type Jaguar sports cars arrived late in 1961 and were as stunning as their original XK counterparts had been a dozen years before, despite the fact that the new model bore little resemblance to the original XK 120. First powered by a 3.8 liter and then a 4.2 liter six-cylinder engine, in 1971 the all new, ultra-smooth V12 was placed under the hood. It was Jaguars first new engine since the twin cam Six had debuted in the XK 120. Known as Series III cars, they were based on the original E-Type unibody platforms with sub-frames.

From the outside the, Series III Jaguars featured a larger bonnet bulge, larger, flared wheel openings, a slightly wider track and a different grille and bumpers. The convertible now rode on the longer 105-inch wheelbase. As a result the doors and sills were longer and the length and depth of the floorpan increased. There was also an additional nine inches of luggage space behind the seats with a hinged lid to assist storage and increase security. A large horizontal scoop was added to the underside of the bonnet to assist in cooling. This car is equipped with leather bucket seats and the optional air conditioning, chrome wire wheels, and three-speed automatic transmission.

Finished in midnight blue with a black leather interior and a camel convertible top, the 1971 Jaguar XKE Roadster is a low mileage vehicle with only 36,281 original miles. The car was special ordered by Mr. Geller and has resided indoors in his Beverly Hills home ever since. It was driven on occasion by Mrs. Geller following his death. Car exhibits minor dings and chips and the chrome trim exhibits some pitting. With the potent V12 engine mated to an automatic transmission, this is a very impressive, powerful and pleasant driving classic, one-owner sports car that would be a great daily driver.
