For sale at Collection by Vermant of Mechelen for 118,450 euros. Abbreviated and amended seller's description below.

www.collectionbyvermant.be/nl/wagens/jaguar-etype-v12-s3

Collection by Vermant is pleased to offer this early Series 3, the 65th V12 to roll off the production line, this is a rare early chassis number. Sold new by British Motor Cars of San Francisco to its first owner and passing to its second owner, a professor of anthropology at the University of California, after two years. She only used the car on sunny days and when not in use, it was dry stored in a garage to keep it in perfect condition. During the 30 years she owned it the car was used sparingly, resulting in the low mileage of 45,847 when sold in 2003.

It was then shipped to Belgium where the current owner has had the car for the past 21 years. It is not only originality but also history that makes the car unique with just 2 owners since 1973. No expense was spared to get the car into excellent condition. Because of the hot climate in America the seals and rubbers had dries out and these were replaced with the parts for recommissioning costing 7,000 euros, all invoices are on file. The car continued to be used sparingly and eventually the cooling system became clogged and ineffective.

A full overhaul of the matching numbers engine, powertrain, suspension, brakes and exhaust was undertaken at a cost of 50,000 euros. There is a full list parts and repairs in the file. The exterior is is finished in original Regency Red as confirmed by the Heritage certificate, the original colour has has been painted just once in over 50 years. Today the car is in excellent condition with the chrome forming a nice combination with the wire wheels.

The car retains its original hardtop and the interior its original leather upholstery along with the door cards, sills, dash and carpets. The car has covered only 48,854 miles and comes with its original jack, maintenance invoices from Belgium, complete file detailing the overhaul, Jaguar Heritage certificate and copy of the 1973 second owner's California title.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
