Ebay item 9/21/10
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-Roadster-1972-Jaguar-XKE-V12-Roadster-LOW- ...
Current bid $12,500 reserve not met, 16 bids 9 days left in auction.
Sellers description:
Privately owned by the same owner for 22 years, this car has spent most of that time being driven only occasionally. The owner estimates that he has put on approximately 10,000 miles since 1988. In between being driven, the car has been kept in secured storage and professionally maintained.
BODY
Overall in good condition, the body does have some rust behind the driver's side front wheel. There are some other minor spots, shown below, but they are negligible. The paint has held up nicely, the only remarkable thing being a few small drops of tree sap that should be easy to remove.
The trim is passable, with some scratches in the stainless and some very light pitting in the chrome. The same can be said for the wire wheels, although I believe with some good cleaning they would come back nicely.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The car starts easily with the expected sputtering that comes with a car that has been sitting for a bit. I attribute this to the carburettors being in need of cleaning. Once warmed up, however, the car runs very smoothly and shifts very well.
The owner reports that there has been very little in the way of repairs on the car during his ownership, with no major repairs being necessary in that time, most likely due to the low amount of miles he has put on. The car has been run at regular intervals to prevent the seals from drying up; however there is some evidence of oil leaking at the pan and the valve covers.
INTERIOR
The seats are in very good condition, with no tears that I could see upon inspection. The leather is still very soft and comfortable. Same can be said for the door panels, they're both in very good shape. The carpet will need to be replaced.
TOP
I was pleased with the condition of the top; with some light cleaning I believe it will appear close to new. No tears visible, and very little to no fading. The top raises and lowers easily, and has a boot in nice condition.
Overall, I would classify this as an ideal driver for someone who would like to immediately enjoy the car. With a good detailing and very little work (carpet replacement, rust repair, oil pan and valve cover gaskets), this car will hold up for a very long time as a solid driver. It is also an excellent candidate for a full restoration, as it is a very solid car with good mechanicals.
This car is privately owned and currently located in Wilmette, IL.

1972 Jaguar E-Type Series III V-12
Silver with Red Leather
VIN UC1S20625
This is a solid, well maintained E-Type purchased from the second owner who bought it in 1988 and retitled the car to his summer home address in 1992. I bought the car a year ago to keep as the occasional weekend driver, but shortage of garage space forces me to make some choices in my collection. I did all the work on the car and have close to 50 years of professional automotive tech experience. Everything works as it should. I had the car painted locally and they did excellent work. The car runs well, has a new top and is an absolute joy to drive, particularly nice is the power steering which you rarely will find on E-Types of previous years.
Compression even on all cylinders in the 140's
Fresh Service and Tune
Front suspension rebuilt
New Tie Rods
New Ball Joints
New Steering Boots
New Front and Rear Brakes
Stainless Steel Bumpers and Over Riders
Original Interior w/New Front Floor Carpets
Mallory Ignition
If you want an absolute perfect one you will have to pay in excess of $95,000 and then it will be too nice to drive. This E-Type is a beautiful automobile and a perfect candidate for a future restoration. It can be driven & enjoyed now without fear and will certainly appreciate in value.

Sellers description:
1972 Jaguar XKE Series III V12 Convertible Roadster. This 4 Speed Manual is finished in the most desirable color combination of Silver with Red Interior. I would consider this low mileage not a restored example but a lovely daily driver to be enjoyed and appreciated.
