Auction description:

Auction 20141
Lot 380
55,000 miles from new
1973 Jaguar E-Type Series III V12 Roadster
Registration no. JJR 623
Chassis no. 1S2347
Engine no. 7S13278SB
Estimate:
£30,000 - 40,000
€36,000 - 49,000
US$ 48,000 - 64,000

This very original un-restored, manual transmission, Series III roadster is finished in greensand (mustard) with beige leather interior. The car was delivered new to the Fletcher's dealership and in December 1991 was purchased by the current owner from Barry Miners of Swansea via Earlesway Classics. Maintained by RR&B and Manuel Queiroz, specialists in Halesowen, 'JJR 633' has covered circa 55,000 miles from new and is described by the private vendor as in generally good/very good condition, with excellent engine. A very good example, driving without fault and offered from long-term careful ownership, the car comes with sundry service/maintenance invoices, current road fund licence, MoT to June 2012 and Swansea V5 registration document.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
