Sold by the Classic and Sports Car Centre of Malton in March 2017. Seller's description below. The URL is
www.classicandsportscar.ltd.uk/Jaguar-E_Type-Series-III-V12-/classic-cars-sold/3 ...

We are delighted to offer onto the market this UK supplied, matching numbers manual Jaguar E Type V12 Roadster. This beautifully presented car has a full, complete service and maintenance history from new, including original Passport to Service booklets. JVY772L was supplied new by Armstrong Massey, Layerthorpe, York on 8 August 1974. The E Type was sold new to a York based development company who were founded in 1967 and still exist today. The car was maintained in its early days by the supplying dealer Armstrong Massey and fourteen service stamps are recorded in the Passport to Service book from the main dealers. The E Type was serviced fourteen times in its first two years, covering 36418 miles in this time. Clearly the car was treated with an absolute no expense spared approach.

In late 1976 a York based motor engineers firm took over the servicing, carrying out at least five services up to 1979. During 1980 and 1981 the Jaguar was serviced and maintained by Stillington Road Garage on the outskirts of York. In 1982 the E Type changed hands for the first time with the mileage at this point 106,858. The second owner continued to look after the car in exactly the same way as its previous owner and kept the E Type on for an astonishing 26 years. From 1982 to 1986 the new owner used the same company, Stillington Road Garage in Sutton on the Forest, York for maintenance and repairs and they stamped the service book five times, invoices and service sheets for all maintenance with this garage are still with the car. Significant work in 1984/1985 included fitting a brand new clutch and overhauling the gearbox. The mileage in 1986 when having its final service with the Sutton on the Forest based garage was 127,464.

The long term second owner began to slow mileage down and spent a significant amount of money over the 24 year he owned the car. In the mid 1980's the Jaguar was treated to a body restoration to include new door skins, new wheel arches and a brand new bonnet. Invoices detail all chrome, electrics, glass and trim were removed from the car. On completion of the bodywork , the car was treated to a full re-paint and then re-fitted. In 1994 the engine was stripped down and rebuilt, treated to new piston rings, big end and main bearings. The top end was also treated to a new a new inlet and exhaust valves and guides. A new timing chain and tensioner was also fitted and all new hoses. During this mechanical restoration work the rear suspension was stripped down and rebuilt. The mileage in 1994 was 139,222 and we can confirm that since this work just 6000 miles have been covered.26 MoT certificates adding to the full service history warrant this mileage and show the E Type was always, throughout its entire life kept in roadworthy condition, never spending long periods off the road. Whilst the car covered a high mileage in its first twenty year, the past twenty three years has seen just 6000 miles but the top class maintenance and light use has seen the car kept in strong mechanical order. Invoices for further work and maintenance accompany the car up to when the second owner sold the car in 2006.

The third owner kept the E Type for two years, then the car changed hands before spending five years with another owner who continued to keep the car in outstanding condition. Invoices are present for all improvements such as stainless steel exhaust system, new manifolds, refurbishing the rev counter, rebuilding the gearbox, replacing the distributor and new alternator. Over time this largely original car has had everything in order to keep it in excellent strong mechanical order and as a result, the most recent owner has had four years of low cost ownership, faultless motoring and lots of enjoyment. Having a collection of classic vehicles, the E Type hasn't been able to cover much recent mileage but it has arrived in excellent mechanical order and is quite simply an outstanding car. The E Type drives superbly with an excellent rebuilt engine that has covered 6000 miles since strip down, perfect smooth gearbox that has covered less than 3000 miles since rebuild and brakes, suspension and steering are all in excellent order. JVY772L is a fabulous car to drive and can be bought with ultimate confidence.

With a fabulous detailed history from new, comprehensive file of service records, MoTs and invoices, original handbooks, it is no surprise to find the structure and cosmetic condition of this E Type is commensurate with a car that has been carefully owned and loved its entire life. The body is stunning; the underside is body colour with perfect Old English White floor pans visible beneath the car. Wheel arches, door bottoms, sills, floors, bonnet and wings are all in excellent order with a deep quality paint finish. Chrome wheels and tyres are excellent, the mohair hood excellent and the interior beautifully presented with lovely leather seats, trims and carpets. The engine bay is smartly presented with an excellent bulkhead and space frame and the boot area nicely trimmed. A hood cover is also present in the boot. It won't be easy to find another E Type with such a comprehensive history and we are pleased to report the condition of the car both inside, out and mechanically match the expectations set by low ownership, long term owners and the fact the car has been treated with no expense spared its entire life. A truly, superb, stunning matching numbers UK E Type, they don't come available like this very often.
