RHD manual Series 3 V12 E-type
Two owners from new, offered by long-term custodian
Extensively refurbished and upgraded

This stunning Jaguar E-type is a factory RHD manual Series 3 coupe that was originally delivered to a customer in Sydney. The vendor has owned the car for more than 40 years and is only the second owner. After using the E-type as his daily driver for much of the 1980s, the Jaguar was treated to a bare metal respray in 1990, with the interior also completely refurbished, including new door trims and headlining. The current owner used the car for tarmac rallies and minor club racing in the 1990s, upgrading a number of components to make the car more competitive and reliable; four-pot XJ-S brake callipers were fitted up front along with ventilated rotors at the rear, the shocks upgraded, the springs lowered by a 3/4-inch and a heavier sway bar fitted. The gearbox had all bearings and synchro's replaced, a heavy-duty clutch was installed and the diff rebuilt, with all universal joints replaced. The engine was rebuilt with new rings, big end and main bearings, the cylinder heads cleaned and given a mild polish, with new valve seats and 6 Weber IDF twin throat carburettors fitted and tuned. A high-flow aluminum radiator, high-pressure fuel pump completed the list of modifications. The Jaguar was timed at the Ford Proving Ground at an impressive 265 km/h, doing the standing quarter-mile in 13.87 seconds and 0-100 km/h in just 5.4 seconds. Following an engine rebuild in 2001, the E-type was effectively retired and for the past 16 years has been enjoyed on country roads around the owner's home in north-east Victoria. The car was repainted and fitted with a new windscreen in 2012, while further improvements have seen new carpets installed in 2016 and some chrome work redone. The E-type presents superbly, the unmarked dark blue paint beautifully complemented by Cherry Red leather upholstery that has just the right amount of patina. The Jaguar has aftermarket air conditioning installed, along with a stereo and stainless steel exhaust and the original carburettors are included in the sale. Without doubt one of the finest Jaguar E-types Shannons have had the pleasure of offering for sale, the car is currently registered in Victoria the E-Type will be offered for sale unregistered.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
