Jaguar E Type V12 Coupe - primrose yellow, first reg 08/10/1971 tax exempt. MOT until 23/04/2012 and is currently taxed and on the road. Subject of total restoration 1997 with all receipts available in substantial history file. Mileometer currently reads 55825 which I have no reason to doubt is genuine as MOTs confirm back to 1989 (mileage then 50572) plus other prior supporting docs. in history file. Bodywork is in excellent condition as can be seen in pictures - all rust protected during restoration and not showing any signs of rust. Underside is good and straight and properly undersealed from the restoration. Mechanically very good with good oil pressure, no untoward noises and pulls like a train. Interior is good but there are bits that need TLC - main item is a small tear in drivers seat base as in picture which I have lived with since I bought the car and the headlining has recently dropped - I do have both a new headlining kit and a replacement seat leather which will come with the car. Tyres all good and chrome wire wheels ok but probably in need of a bit of elbow grease to get the chrome shiny again. Stainless steel exhaust fitted. I would describe this car as being in very good overall condition and mechanically sound and usable but obviously not concours due to time since restoration so there are bound to be little bits here and there which may or may not need attention depending on your viewpoint.
Has been my vehicle for last 8 years during which time I have only done 800 careful and dry miles. Driving experience is brilliant with excellent acceleration and handling. The only thing I would point out is the gear change can be a bit slow making double declutching and a bit of thought with the revs to get seamless changes downwards...mainly 3 to 2. Its never been an issue for me as I assumed it was just part of the seventies driving experience but I have read that the syncro can be a bit weak between 3 and 2 ??. The only other fault I have found is the tacho which whilst working, does wander a bit whilst cruising but settles down when you accelerate...I have never managed to find the fault. During my careful ownership the car has had new exhaust manifolds, complete rebuild of front suspension and refurb of front brakes/new discs and lately new gearbox mounting plate plus bush, also fuel pump and filter.
