1973 Jaguar E-Type SIII Coupe
While the SIII roadster, with its longer wheelbase and flared wheel wells, could be considered an attractive design by most admirers, the 2+2 coupe is another matter altogether

by Mark Jones
Testing the new E-type Series III back in 1972, Road & Track reckoned the new V12 power unit, "a sheer delight, by itself almost worth the price of admission."

This automatic transmission-equipped E-type V12 coupe was dispatched to supplying dealer Henleys of Bournemouth on March 20, 1973, and registered on April 6 that year to its first owner. It is finished in Greensand with matching olive green interior, unrestored and totally original, even retaining the factory stickers on the door shuts. It is described by the vendor as in good condition in every respect.

Sold with a substantial history file dating to 1983, this car represents an increasingly rare opportunity to acquire an unmolested example of the legendary E-type in its ultimate and most refined form.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
