Ebay item 9/15/04

Opening bid GBP 37,500, no bids yet, 3 days left in auction.

There are some observations/ concerns about this car as follows:
The serial number matches a left hand drive 2+2 circa 1971.
The engine [#7S11629A] is '73 or later with a five digit serial number. The coil on the right rear plus the location of the oil pressure sending unit, is consistent with a '73 motor.
The fresh air vents - may not have they existed in '71.
The demister vents may not be correct for a '71.
This car appears to have been modified to a RHD roadster and from auto trans to manual, perhaps using some '73 parts though this is only conjecture.

Sellers description:
1971 Jaguar Series 3 ā€œEā€ Type Roadster V12

No Expense spared on this Absolutely Immaculate car.

This is one really cobbled car. It started life as a 71 LHD 2+2. And still is in my opinion. Changed to RH. Changed to manual as the BW indicates automatic transmission. Placement of coil to rear must be a RH domestic (England) engine and it appears to be of the mid 73 vintage by the numbers. A;so, it would have four digits instead of five as the last # is actually an "S" . Hope no one pays the price for this one.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
