Current bid: $10,000 reserve not met 4 bids 6 days left in auction, car now said to be in Troy, Michigan, previously Birmingham, AL. 43k miles seller classicautoshowplace.

    Seller's description:

    1971 Jaguar XKE Coupe 2+2 - V12 - Series III

    Automatic- Green with Tan Leather

If you are searching for a "good, solid driver" that you can enjoy going to the local shows with, we think you will really like this one! Who doesn't love a British Racing Green E Type Jag? Perfectly complimented with the "natural" tan leather interior. It seems to have enjoyed a rather pampered and easy life with its previous stewards over the past 50 years, although it has never had a full restoration. And to that point, it is clearly not a trailer queen or high-end show car. Our seller is a very long-time customer with an eclectic interest in collectible vehicles. His enjoyment comes from driving and using them, He purchased this E Type in South Carolina four years ago and rarely drove it after his retirement, thus, the reason for his selling now. The Mileage is confirmed by the last two owners to be the original at 43,744. Because of its time idle in storage, it was taken to an expert mechanic and sorted to include draining the tank and putting in fresh gas before rebuilding the four carburetors, new plugs, and ignition wires, the trans leak was fixed and a trans service was done. It's ready for the open road now. Options include Wire Wheels, Automatic transmission, and AirConditioning (A/C has not been used for many years and will require sorting!). The radio had been removed by a previous owner and was never replaced (with the sound of a V12, who needs one?). The paint is at least 10 years old and even with the expected flaws from age and use, it still looks great overall. Mechanically, it's ready to turn the key and enjoy. It starts with ease and runs, drives, and handles as you would hope for and expect.

This 1971 Jaguar XKE is a Series III 2+2 that is finished in green over tan leather and powered by a numbers-matching 5.3-liter V12 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. Features include four Stromberg carburetors, an SNG Barratt electronic ignition system, 15″ wire wheels, a folding rear bench seat, air conditioning, and a retro-style stereo with Bluetooth. The car is said to have been refurbished by its previous owner approximately a decade ago, and was acquired by the seller in 2017. Service following a subsequent period of storage included rebuilding the carburetors, flushing the transmission fluid and coolant, and replacing ignition components. This 2+2 E-Type is offered at no reserve with a manual, two key sets, and a clean Michigan title in the seller’s name.

This Series III example is said to have been refinished in its current British Racing Green approximately 11 years ago under previous ownership. There are several imperfections in the finish.

Chrome 15″ knock-off wire wheels are mounted with 205/70 Sigma Regent tires. The springs, shocks, and suspension bushings are said to have been replaced under previous ownership, and the braking and power steering systems were also reportedly overhauled. The seller notes a vibration that can be felt at approximately 70 mph.

The interior features front bucket seats and a folding rear bench with leather upholstery that was dyed to its current color during the previous refurbishment. Amenities include air conditioning as well as a RetroSound stereo with Bluetooth and aftermarket speakers. The seller notes wear on the seats, a cracked dome light lens, a disconnected rear window defroster, and a sticky inner driver’s door handle as well as a missing dome light lens, left A-pillar light switch, hatch prop-lever, and sun visors.

A three-spoke steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation that includes a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline. A clock and auxiliary gauges extend across the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 44k miles, fewer than 500 of which have been added by the seller over the past four years. Total mileage is unknown.

The 5.3-liter V12 is fitted with an SNG Barratt electronic ignition system and was serviced after 18 months of storage in preparation for the sale with rebuilds of its four Stromberg carburetors as well as a coolant flush and timing adjustment. The following were also installed:

    Denso ignition wires

    Iridium spark plugs

Otter coolant temperature switch and fan relay

New air conditioning system relay and belt

The engine block stamping reads 7S1476-SA, matching that stamped on the data tag in the engine bay.

Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission that has been fitted with a new filter and pan gasket.
