Lot Overview
Lot #13797
private Sale
London, United Kingdom
An elegant classic sports car, recently given a full service and overhaul at a cost of more than £16,000.
Under the bonnet is the original 5.3-litre V12, fed by twin Stromberg carburettors, which delivers up to 272bhp and 295lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual gearbox.
This left-hand drive E-Type is believed to have been first delivered to Europe before being exported to America in the 1970s, and subsequently to the UK in the 1980s.
The previous keeper is said to have owned the car for nearly 40 years.
The odometer indicates 14,358 km, which cannot be warranted, but the seller believes it may be correct.
EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES
This E-Type is finished in Ascot Fawn over a Tan leather-trimmed cabin.
It rides on a set of 15-inch chrome-faced wheels, wrapped in Pirelli tyres.
The cabin features Smiths gauges, a row of rocker switches for the major controls, an 8-track player, and lockable glovebox.
Accompanying the car is the V5C, a history file, the toolkit, and spare wheel.
The registration ‘LDG 6L’ shown in the photographs is not included. It will revert to an age-related registration in the event of a successful auction.
CONDITION
The seller is not aware of any bodywork damage.
The paintwork is said to be in generally excellent condition, with some minor marks on the door shuts, and small blemishes inside the wheel arches and on the rear bumper.
Inside, the cabin presents well, and the leather upholstery is believed to be original. There is a small nick in the driver’s door sill, and some time-earned patina across the rest of the trim.
The passenger-side sun visor appears to be misaligned.
The seller is not aware of any mechanical or electrical faults.
Due to its age, the vehicle is exempt from mandatory MOT testing.
SERVICE HISTORY
A major service was carried out in July 2022 at 14,358 kilometres by classic Jaguar specialist West Ridings at a cost of over £16,000. This included detailing the car, overhauling the carburettors, and replacing the ignition system, suspension and bushes, wheel bearings, universal joints, clutch cylinder, engine mounts, and radiator.
