Ebay item 5/11/07
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-1972-XKE-V12-4spd-PROJECT-CAR-storage-vict ...
Current bid $3,000, no reserve, 1 bid, 9 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
Willow Green, 2+2 coupe, 4spd, V12, wire wheels, tan interior, AC

This was once a decent vehicle, but poor storage has done a job on it. I am selling this for a relative - I have the title, access to the owner plus Power-of-Attorney so there will be no issues. The fuel pump is dead and the throttle cable is broken (which is when it was parked) - I bypassed the stock pump with an aftermarket unit with a pressure regulator so that the vehicle can be moved more easily. I drove it a couple times a few years back, and it was a good driving car then.

It runs very good considering - no noises, oil pressure indicated about 80 psi cold (and it doesn't drop much when warm), radiator holds pressure. But the car needs a bunch of work to be clean, and it definitely has many, many electrical gremlins.

The brakes work and are not frozen (although I haven't tried the ebrake for good reason) as it can be moved around the driveway with no problems. I wouldn't drive it on the road without checking the brake lines at least - this cannot be driven away and must be transported!

All in all it needs a lot of help, but if you want a V12 beater then this may be something that you can work with.

BODY - The body needs help - the floor pans are rusty, plus there are several spots on the body. There is also some strange damage in the tire well where a couple spot welds have pulled out, almost like someone ran over something at one point (and may explain why a crack was found in the rear cage, and it was replaced). It's a good 20/20 car, the panels look straight and to anyone who doesn't have to work on it it looks pretty sharp.

INTERIOR - Not great either - evidence of corrosion on some surfaces, the headliner is drooping and the interior hasn't worn well - a little moldy/musty, but everything is there. It hasn't had chickens living in it, but it very, very far from being a show car.

MECHANICAL - Probably best aspect - I've a V8 guy so I can't say much about this motor, but it sounds pretty good. I have receipts for the following work done back in 2000, about 1000 miles ago:

Rear diff cage replaced and differential rebuilt
Four new rear shocks, two lower shock bushings, bolts and spacers
Two large and two small trailing arm bushings
New rear calipers, rotors and ebrake pad set
New tie rod ends
New upper and lower ball joints
New front shocks
New front rotors and pads
New coolant hoses and fuel and brake line repairs
Four new Michelin tires and tubes
New cap, rotor and plugs
New clutch and clutch master cylinder
Rebuilt brake servo w/stainless sleeve
Replacement exhaust manifolds and down pipes
Plus more little parts, pieces and too much labor

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
