Sellers comment:
The car you are looking at is a 1970/71(8-70) Jaguar XKE Roadster in decent driver condition

The paint is decent except for the pass door which has been primered, there is a can of matching paint in the boot. The tan leather seats are recent and in good condition. The carpets are poor, the tan canvas top is stained. The front grille bumper bar is missing. The a-c evap/vents are missing the compressor is present. The car runs and drives pretty well. The front and rear suspensions have been redone with in the last 15 yrs/10000 milesThe car is all but rust free, the orig floors/rockers are dry, there is a small rusty spot (1.5x1.5in.behind the lf wheel)The trunk is dry.I see no signs of,and know of no accidents, but I have only known this car for about 15 yrs.

Vehicle Condition
This car could driven as a fun driver after touching up the paint and replacing the top and carpets

I wish I had found this car before I bought mine. It is apparently a solid car. No apparent accident damage and although the drivers side sill may require replacement at some point, there is nothing that couldn't be repaired with a little time and talent.

It was last licensed in 1997 and has not been driven since. Therefore, it will need some basic maintenance and TLC to make it a reliable driver. It does start and the engine sounds good. The oil pressure gauge went up to 55 lbs and the voltmeter indicates that it is charging. I didn't drive it but the shop owner says he has driven it a little.

Not sure why the passenger door has a thin coat of bondo on it. Certainly could use some work but even if it needed to be re-skinned, the panel is available.

Unfortunately, the interior will need some work to clean it up an one might want to r
eplace the tan canvas top. It originally had factory A/C and all the under bonnet parts are there but the interior evaporator unit is missing.

All in all, I would say this is a good starter for someone who wants a good driver. All the numbers match so someone could actually make it a concours candidate if they wished.

Just learned that this car is now in a container and headed off to a new owner in the UK. Apparently it sold for around $16,500. A bargain in my opinion for what appears to be a solid, nearly complete driver.

•Delivered new to the USA
•Left-hand drive

This US-specification Series 2 roadster was despatched to Jaguar's New York distributor on 25th August 1970. The E-Type eventually returned to the UK, and was registered there to one Jeremy Parkin in February 2005. The car comes with all invoices relating to the extensive servicing, maintenance, and restoration works carried out over the last 12 years (close inspection recommended). These works have included the installation of a five-speed gearbox (2008) and a full engine rebuild (2014), since when the car has covered a mere 500 miles.

In addition, the bodywork has been restored and the interior newly re-trimmed in leather and fitted with new carpets. Other desirable upgrades include air conditioning, power steering, twin Kenlowe fans, Coopercraft brakes, gas shock absorbers, Bluetooth equipped radio, and a new full stainless steel exhaust system (including manifolds). A new black mohair hood was fitted in 2016. Presented in generally excellent condition, this extensively restored and upgraded E-Type roadster is offered with a UK V5C registration document, current MoT certificate, a quantity of expired MoT certificates, Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate, and the aforementioned invoices.

Car to return to auction 2/18
www.artcurial.com/en/lot-1970-jaguar-type-e-serie-2-42l-ots-no-reserve-3279-83

Auction description:
Sale Rétromobile 2018 - 09 february 2018 /Lot 83
Lot 83
1970 Jaguar Type E série 2 4,2L OTS
No reserve
British title
Chassis n°2R 13655
Engine n°7R 12264-9

- Collection of an enthusiast of Supercars
- In nice condition
- Original engine
- Recent work accomplished, with invoices
- No reserve

According to the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certification, this beautiful roadster was sold new in the United States, via the British Leyland distributor in New York, in August 1970. It was then green in color, with a light green interior. It seems that the car had only one owner in the United States, before it was transported to Scotland in 2005 by an enthusiast. As can be seen by the thick invoice folder, which we strongly advise potential buyers to consult, more than €65,000 was spent by the latter to give the car its superb condition today. It is now in a beautiful red color with a biscuit-colored interior, giving the car a most beautiful combination. The engine, which is the original one, has been redone. The car is equipped with air conditioning and a new Kenwood radio has been fitted. The car was bought by the current collector, completely seduced by the good general condition of the car, for his trips to Monaco.
Estimation 70 000 - 90 000 €
