    Sellers description:
Chequered Flag International is pleased to offer thie 1971 Jaguar E-type Series II Roadster in Primrose Yellow with Black leather seats. 83,000 miles. One California owner from new - Sid Colberg of San Francisco, a well known member of the classic car community. He founded the Hillsborough Concours d' Elegance in the 50's, one of the oldest in the country. Also Palo Alto Concours for SCAA, plus many other affiliations with the classic car world. He owned many serious collector cars, including a Jaguar XKSS, Maserati Birdcage, etc. This E-type was his daily driver for many years until 2009 when it was stored in his Nob Hill garage until we purchased it recently. All numbers match. Car number 2R13700, Engine number 7R12761-9, Body number4R8441, Gearbox number KE14015. Very straight and solid example with a very good body. paint is very good with a few tiny chips. Lovely original interior. Soft top has a tear and should be replaced. We are just fitting a new soft top as this one has a small tear. Mechanically delightful - lots of power, no noise or smoke. Great gearbox with good syncros. Nice brakes and steering - a real pleasure to drive. Have just serviced it, gone through the brakes, wheel bearings, etc. Also just fitted four new wire wheels and four new tires. This is a remarkably honest, original and good example of a very late Series II Roadster with great provenance - one very empathetic famous California owner from new!

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
