Ebay item 10/13/08
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-JAGUAR-E-TYPE-SERIES-2-COUPE-FACTORY-AC-4- ...
Opening bid $19,999, no reserve, no bids yet, 6 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
THIS IS MY DAD'S 1971 SERIES 2 E-TYPE COUPE WHICH HE BOUGHT ABOUT 25 YEARS AGO
FROM A CLOSE FRIEND WHO HE WAS TOLD WAS THE 2ND OWNER.
IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN A GARAGE KEPT CAR. THE MILEAGE (64,800) IS LEGITIMATE FOR AS LONG AS WE HAVE OWNED THE CAR. HE HAS NOT USED IT MUCH SINCE 2000.

IT HAS THE RARE FACTORY AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM WHICH DOES NOT HAVE A BELT HOOKED UP TO IT RIGHT NOW. IT WAS REMOVED MANY YEARS AGO AND HE DOES NOT RECALL WHY. THE COMPRESSOR DOES SPIN FREELY.

--------------------------------------------

IT HAS THE 4.2 6 CYLINDER ENGINE WITH A 4 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION.

THE ENGINE RUNS FINE WITH GREAT OIL PRESSURE, BUT HAS A BIT OF UPPER END RATTLE. THIS IS LIKELY THE TIMING CHAINS. ALL OF THE COOLING HOSES WERE RECENTLY REPLACED.

--------------------------------------------

THIS E-TYPE WAS REPAINTED A SLIGHTLY MORE BRITISH RACING GREEN IN THE LATE 1970s OVER A DARKER FACTORY GREEN. IT IS SHINY AND PRESENTABLE BUT DOES NEED TO BE REPAINTED AT SOME POINT. THERE ARE SEVERAL RUSTY SPOTS STARTING TO POP THROUGH AND I'VE TRIED TO SHOW THE ROUGH AREAS IN THE PICS AS BEST I CAN.
THERE ARE LOTS OF CHIPS, NICKS AND SCRATCHES THAT
CAN ONLY BE REPAIRED WITH A RESPRAY. THEY DON'T SHOW VERY WELL IN THE PICS.

THERE IS SOME FILLER UNDER THE PAINT BUT IT HAS ONLY CRACKED UNDER THE GRILLE.

THE FLOORS LOOK SOLID WITH A FEW RUSTY SPOTS.

THE DRIVER'S FOOTWELL WAS REPLACED IN THE EARLY '80s.

THE CHROME IS ALL THERE EXCEPT FOR THE REAR WINDOW TRIM.

THE BUMPERS ARE GENERALLY SPOTTY WITH A FEW DINGS.

---------------------------------------------------

OTHER THAN THE PAINT THE CAR IS MOSTLY ORIGINAL INCLUDING THE INTERIOR.

THE SEATS HAVE A NICE WORN IN PATINA. THE HEADRESTS NEED TO BE RESTUFFED.

THE CARPET IS ORIGINAL BUT THE TWO FOOTWELL PIECES NEED TO BE REPLACED.

THEY ARE COVERED WITH THE PROPER AMCO RUBBER MATS.

THE HEADLINER IS ORIGINAL AND IN DECENT SHAPE, AS IS THE DASH.

THE DOOR PANELS LOOK GOOD BUT NEED NEW BOARDS.

THE ORIGINAL PHILIPS AM/FM/SW RADIO IS STILL HERE!

-----------------------------------------------------

THE TIRES ARE DUNLOPS AND ARE IN GOOD CONDITION.

THE WIRE WHEELS ARE PRETTY NICE WITH JUST A LITTLE RUST VISIBLE BEHIND THE SPOKES.

IN THE TRUNK IS THE ORIGINAL JACK, KNOCK OFF HAMMER AND SPANNER.

AS FAR AS I CAN TELL ALMOST EVERYTHING SEEMS TO BE WORKING. I HAVE TO LOOK INTO

THE HEATER BLOWER WHICH ISN'T COMING ON RIGHT NOW. IT SHOULDN'T BE A BIG DEAL.

BASICALLY, THIS IS AN ATTRACTIVE E-TYPE THAT YOU CAN DRIVE FOR FUN OR COMPLETELY RESTORE IF YOU LIKE.

IT'S QUITE AN ORIGINAL CAR IN VERY DESIRABLE BRITISH RACING GREEN AND IT HASN'T BEEN MESSED WITH TOO MUCH AT ALL. IT WAS BUILT IN AUGUST OF 1970 SO IT IS ONE OF THE LAST SERIES 2 E-TYPES BUILT.

SERIES 2s ARE THE HOT TICKET RIGHT NOW BECAUSE THEY HAVE THE CLASSIC EARLY E-TYPE LOOKS WITH A MUCH MORE COMFORTABLE INTERIOR THAN THE EARLIER CARS.

I STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU ARRANGE TO VIEW THE CAR
AS IT IS BEING SOLD AS IS. THE CAR IS LOCATED IN THE DETROIT AREA.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
