Lot #202856
This 1971 Jaguar XKE Series II coupe is finished in Old English White over red leather and is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Equipment includes a louvered clamshell hood, four-wheel disc brakes, 15″ steel wheels, an AM/FM radio, an eight-track player, and air conditioning. This XKE coupe was acquired by the current owner in 2024 and is now offered on dealer consignment with the owner’s manual, service records, and a clean California title.
The car is finished in Old English White and was repainted some time ago. Dent repairs were performed in 2016 and damage on the underside of the hood was repaired in 2017. Exterior equipment includes a driver-side mirror, wraparound chrome bumpers, bright trim, a louvered clamshell hood, and dual exhaust outlets.
The 15″ steel wheels were mounted with 205/70 Yokohoma tires in 2024. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors. The front suspension was rebuilt in 2017 and the rear shocks and springs were replaced.
The cabin features bucket seats that were fitted with replacement foam padding and reupholstered in red leather in 2017. Replacement Wilton wool carpets were also installed at that time, and the car is equipped with a push-button AM/FM radio, an eight track player, and air conditioning.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline as well as an analog clock and gauges for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 53k miles, approximately 500 of which were added under current ownership.
The 4.2-liter inline-six was factory equipped with dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and rated at 245 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque when new. An aluminum radiator and electric fan were installed and the cylinder head gasket was replaced in 2016. More recent work in 2024 involved replacing the oil pan gasket and valve cover gaskets as well as performing a valve adjustment and oil change. An invoice from the work recommends head work in the future, and the seller notes noise from the valves.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. A replacement exhaust system was installed in 2013.
