Gearbox converted, by a previous owner, to the more desirable close-ratio EJ gearbox, EJ1245.
"The gearbox was the EJ type from 1964 to approximately November 1967, then the EE type to March 1968, and finally the KE type to July 1968, continuing on the S2 models. It should be noted that the EJ 'boxes are sometimes referred to as "close-ratio" and the later boxes as "standard-ratio". I do not think that there were any other alternative closer ratio sets available." - Anders Detlev Clausager
