Listed for sale at the JCNA web site on August 2, 2010. "1971 Jaguar XKE coupe for sale. Thank you for considering this 1971 Jaguar XKE coupe, chassis number 2R28430. While this is not a matching numbers example (Engine number 7E16278-9 from a Series 1). This is a two seater, four speed, with factory A/C example showing 43,199 miles on the clock, it was also originally a red/black car. Overall, this car is a driver quality example for the Jaguar enthusiast to drive daily. Mechanically, this car is very up to date, new points, plugs, and condenser were recently added, as well as all fluids changed with rebuilt alternator and new water pump. (receipts available). The brakes are in excellent working order, as well as the clutch, transmission (with all good syncros, no grinding), and correlating running gear. All electronics work as expected with the exception of the brake lights (they do not light upon braking) as well as the window washers. The interior shows good patina and is very usable and presentable as is with no missing components and everything in proper working order. The headliner is the only missing piece, and appears to have been missing for quite some time. The exterior does show some use and is overall, driver quality. The door, bonnet, and trunk fit are good with nice gaps as well. The only noticeable issue on this car to be disclosed is a few minor rust issues that are very common with XKEs. A small amount of rusting is showing on the driver's side door (still very usable and presentable) as well as on the corner of wheel arch on the bonnet. The floors have seen prior replacement but are very usable as they are. Left rear rocker towards the bottom does have a rust spot, not structural and still very usable, but it is in need of attention for anyone restoring this car. The trunk area is solid but has seen prior patching, but is currently free of any holes and overall very usable as well. All glass is excellent and free of cracking, but rubber components do show age. All suspension components appear to be in excellent order with no known issues. The car does come with a spare and jack. All bright work is driver quality as well, and is showing its age slightly. Overall, this is an excellent opportunity for any enthusiast or restorer to own a mechanically sound, driver quality, '71 XKE coupe at a very reasonable price."
