This car was reportedly raced by Peter Sargent and Peter Lumsden, and registered at 898 BYR.

The white car appears to be the LHD OTS 875009.

found this posting on a forum this moning: "898BYR and 49FXN are different cars, the first one being a standard (steel) roadster adapted as a coupe lookalike (LM 62 and other races, s850009); and 49FXN a Lightweight (S850663) rebodied as a low drag coupe. Both from Peter Lumsden/Peter Sargent."

Yes the colour pic of the E type roadster is certainly not 850009 and should be removed it is most likely LHD 9

My farther was part of the Team P J Sargent and worked and test drove this and other cars with Team P J Sargent. I will ask and see if he can fill in any more details from either my farther or Peter on the car.

Feb. 2001 Jaguar World states the car was the Peter Sargent competition car 898BYR co-driven by Peter Lumsden.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
