I came across the original logbook for this car which I owned for a couple of years around 1970. I believe it must be among the first ever built. So I thought I would pass on the details. I have photos if anyone is interested.

Hi all, I bought the car in the Guildford area March 1971. Ran it for about 2 years with several runs to Scotland and Wales it was particularly good in the snow thanks to the limited slip diff. Very quick, never made the claimed 150 but saw 140+ (if you could trust the speedo). On the road to Anglesey, I hit a truck. We transplanted the engine into Dads MK2 2.4 which, with the original diff had acceleration that made your eyes water. The E type was a truly great car of its time, such a pity this one ended up with a numbskull like me. I will look for more photos.

Just posted a few more (not very good) pictures of the engine transplant to the 2.4 saloon.

After many years holding onto JHC999 in the hope of restoring it myself, I have taken the decision to pass it over to another, hopefully this will see it restored to its former glory. The new owner has promised to post picture of the restoration on here. I wish him all the best.

I am extremely excited to be the purchaser and new owner of this car having purchased it from Geoff back in Sept 2017.
I have a lot of work ahead of me, however, not only will this be worth it, I imagine it will also keep me out of mischief for a little while!
As Geoff has mentioned, I will definitely look to get up some pictures as the restoration progresses and hopefully in the not too distant future, the finished restoration.

this car was scrapped. Why has it been edited to be still alive. If this website it to be taken seriously it must take seriously its role. It is being used as a defacto authenticator of cars and in this case its a car that has been previously listed as scrapped. My previous comment has been deleted.

Why have you said the car was scrapped? Please do not make such posts unless you are providing proof. As you stated the site does take comments seriously. Superfluous accusations will be removed which is why your previous comment was deleted.
